Read that again.

Most owners I talk to have built the opposite. A business that can't move without them. Where every decision, every problem, every dropped ball lands back in their lap.

And they've normalised it. Called it dedication. Called it the price of building something.

But here's the honest truth - if you walked away for a week and everything fell apart, that's not a staffing problem. That's a structure problem.

Adam was the guy doing everything himself.
On the tools 40 hours a week. Quoting backlog piling up. Cash flow unpredictable. A team that needed direction but wasn't getting it because Adam was too busy doing the work to run the business.
Beck knew they needed help. Adam wasn't so sure.
It took a health scare from burnout and stress to make the call.
Here's where they landed.

Net profit increased by 19%. COGS down 7%. Subbies down 9%.
Adam went from 40 hours on the tools to 8 hours on site a week with more time to actually be a present dad.
The team grew from 3 to 5. Their first apprentices are now qualified tradesmen. Jobs were finished ahead of schedule. And they were booked out 3 to 6 months in advance at any given time.
No more revenue rollercoaster. Consistent monthly targets. A business that ran without running Adam into the ground.

Most people don’t say this part out loud…

I looked at my agility gear one day and felt sick to my stomach.

2.5 years of work. Every programme, every suggestion, every possible fix. And we still couldn't get a clear round.

The sport I loved had become the thing I dreaded. I was ready to walk away.

As a last resort I found a coach in Europe. I didn't have high hopes, I was just out of options.

She changed everything. Not just the results. The joy came back. And in the sessions where I doubted the process, where I wanted to pull back she held the line. I trusted the outcome even when I couldn't see it yet.

8 months later we finally had our first clear round win at a championship show. Two weeks ago, we graduated up a level. Something I genuinely thought might never happen.

My effort never changed, I just got the right coach in my corner.

I tell this story because I understand what it feels like to try everything and still feel like you are pushing s**t uphill. And I know what it feels like when you finally get the right support.

It's not magic. It's the right coach, at the right time with a process that works.

💭 of the week

Who do you choose to see?

Short, “young”, South African female… what does she know. You are really weird you know that. Omg she is a lot 🤣

Some of the things I’ve heard people say about me. I used to let this get to me… why can’t I be enough? Why can’t I be normal? What’s wrong with me?

I’ve heard some really harsh head trash this week either self created or running with other peoples bull s**t reflections of what’s going on for them and projecting that onto others.

The reality is we all a bit weird and not normal in our own way, and realising that and embracing it… is what changed the game for me!

But also flipping the script…

It’s crazy hey… a lil powerhouse of a woman in the coaching industry for over a decade, coaching business owners in 3 different countries 🤯 yes, you very well should be curious about what I know🤣.

I love being weird… and that’s weird too, I know🤦‍♀️. It makes me different and special. Everything that’s weird about me, I’m passionate about and it brings me joy. So I’m owning it.

I am a lot🤣 … a lot of passion, a lot of love, a lot of care, a lot of energy, a lot of commitment to the cause, a lot of dedication. A lot of drive. Id be a Ferrari, not a Polo if we all turned into cars tomorrow.

Not everyone can handle that, and that’s ok. The right people will and they are my people.

So the same goes for you…

If you think you’re the one that never excelled at anything growing up, that’s why you not “successful”
If you think you not good enough, and are a terrible business owner but have run a business for over 10 years
If you’ve been told you are not normal.

Or…

if you’ve ever felt like:
you were underestimated
you never quite fit the mould
You were “too different”
You doubted your capability despite everything you’ve already overcome

Maybe it’s time to stop viewing those things as weaknesses.

Sometimes the thing you spent years trying to tone down is actually the thing that makes you powerful and successful in your business and life.

It’s time to flip the script my beautiful ones.

Nobody tells you that motherhood and running a small business feel exactly the same.
You're the first one up and the last one to bed. You're managing people who don't always listen, solving problems nobody else sees, and holding everything together on days when you're running on empty.
The budget never quite stretches far enough. The to-do list never fully disappears. And just when you think you've figured it out everything changes and you adapt anyway.
You wear every hat. You make the hard calls. You show up even when you don't feel like it.
And you do it because you love what you've built. The people in it. The life it's creating.
Sound familiar?
To every mum running a household like a business and every business owner who feels like they're raising something today's for you.
And to those celebrating someone who's no longer here: you are not forgotten either.

Most business owners aren't bad at business.
They're just flying blind on their numbers.
And there's a difference.
Bad at business means you don't have what it takes. Flying blind means you haven't been shown where to look or what to do with what you find.
One is a character flaw. The other is a fixable problem.
A new financial year is one of the few genuine fresh starts you get in business. The slate is as clean as it's going to get. What happened in the last 12 months stays there.
But here's the thing.
If you head into the next 12 months the same way you headed into the last ones, same habits, same avoidance, same "I'll look at the numbers later" energy nothing changes. The year just passes differently dressed.
So here's what I want you to actually do.
Know your revenue. Know your margins. Know your break even point and what it takes to get past it. Understand where your profit is leaking and which levers to pull to stop it.
Not because it's exciting. Because it's the difference between a business that survives and a business that actually builds something.
2026 doesn't have to look like last year.
But it won't change on its own.
