Got a gift from overseas? Or maybe you’re connected to a foreign trust?

🇺🇸 If you’re a U.S. citizen living abroad, the IRS still wants to know about it.

Even if the money isn’t taxable, you still have to report it—and the forms can be a headache (and expensive to miss).

👉 Gifts over $100,000 from a non-U.S. person? You probably need Form 3520
👉 Foreign trust? You might need Form 3520-A too
😬 Miss them, and the penalties start at $10,000+

It’s one of those areas where the rules seem small, but the penalties are huge.

If this sounds confusing, you’re not alone—talk to a U.S. tax expert who deals with this all the time. Better safe than sorry.

🇺🇸 Are you a U.S. citizen running a business in Australia?

You might be paying Aussie taxes—but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook with the IRS.

The U.S. requires its citizens to report foreign business ownership, and if you don’t file the right forms, the penalties can be serious.

😳 You might need to file extra forms like Form 5471
💸 Penalties for missing it can be $10,000+
🧾 Even if you’re paying tax in Australia, you still need to tell the IRS

The good news? A U.S. tax expert can help you:
✅ Avoid double taxation
✅ File the right forms
✅ Stay 100% compliant

If you’ve got a business in Australia, don’t risk going it alone—get the right advice early.

✅ You can get compliant and avoid future problems—with the right help

👉 Gather your tax returns

Living abroad? U.S. tax deadlines still apply—no matter your timezone.

Many U.S. expats don’t realize that:
📌 You're still required to file a U.S. tax return annually—even if you live abroad
📌 The automatic 2-month extension (to June 15) isn’t enough if you're missing key forms like FBAR or Form 8938
📌 Missing deadlines can trigger interest, penalties, and red flags with the IRS

This is where working with an experienced U.S. expat tax advisor becomes invaluable. A good advisor will:
✅ Keep you ahead of every deadline
✅ File the correct extensions (and explain which ones matter)
✅ Help you avoid common mistakes that lead to penalties

If you're living overseas and feeling unsure about your IRS obligations, it’s worth talking to someone who knows the system inside out.

Just because you’ve moved overseas doesn’t mean the IRS forgets about you 👀

🇺🇸 If you’re a U.S. citizen living abroad, you still have to file a U.S. tax return every year—and you’ve got deadlines to meet.

🗓️ The good news? You get an automatic 2-month extension to June 15
😬 The bad news? If you don’t file properly (or miss reporting foreign accounts), you can still get hit with penalties

Working with a tax expert makes it SO much easier.

✅ They keep you on track
✅ File the right forms (like FBAR or FATCA)
✅ Help you avoid the costly stuff

If you’re not sure what to file or when to file it, get some help—it’s worth it for peace of mind.

Being a U.S. citizen overseas means more paperwork than most people realise 😅

And if you miss a form or file late, the IRS can hand out some pretty steep fines.

That’s why working with a tax expert is totally worth it.

✅ They know all the forms (like FBAR and FATCA)
✅ They keep you on top of deadlines
✅ They help you avoid penalties
✅ And they give you peace of mind that it’s done right

If you’re feeling a bit lost or behind on your U.S. taxes, it’s not too late. A good advisor can help you get back on track—often without penalties.

Are you an expatriate unsure about your tax responsibilities? The Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures can help.

This program is designed for those who mistakenly failed to report foreign assets, allowing non-willful taxpayers to get back on track without facing penalties.

Recent updates highlighted the requirements as of April 25, 2025. To qualify, you need to:

- File three years of tax returns
- Submit six Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBARs)
- Complete Form 14653

It's essential that you confirm you have been outside the US for at least 330 days in one of the last three years, and that you have not received any IRS notice regarding your non-compliance.

While the program eliminates penalties, be aware that interest may still apply.

Remember, many expats may not realize that they need to file yearly returns and FBARs. By taking advantage of these streamlined procedures, you can correct past oversights and regain compliance.

Are you ready to ensure you're on the right side of tax law?

What is FATCA—and why should U.S. expats care?

If you're a U.S. citizen living abroad, FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) may be affecting you more than you realise.

✅ Foreign banks are required to report your accounts to the IRS
✅ You may need to file Form 8938 and FBAR annually
✅ Non-compliance can lead to serious penalties—even if you live overseas
✅ Many expats find their bank accounts restricted or even closed

With increased global enforcement, now is the time to review your reporting obligations and ensure you're protected.

📩 If you’re unsure whether FATCA applies to you or need help navigating your expat tax situation, let’s connect.
