Stronger communities through everyday kōrero. ✨

As Te Wiki o te Reo Māori comes to a close, the opportunity to use and learn te reo Māori continues. 👥

Every greeting, phrase and conversation helps make te reo more visible in our workplaces and communities - and contributes to a more connected Aotearoa.

Let’s keep the kōrero going beyond this week.

Kia kaha te reo Māori.

Give te reo a go.

Using te reo Māori in everyday conversations doesn’t have to be complicated. 💬 Small words and phrases are a great place to start.

Try adding a little more te reo to your working day:

👋 Kia ora — Hello / Thank you
☀️Mōrena — Good morning
👏 Ka pai — Good / Well done
🤝 Ngā mihi — Thank you / Acknowledgements

The more we use te reo, the more naturally it becomes part of our everyday kōrero.🌿

What phrase will you give a go today?

Celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori together. 💚

Today, our Facility Management team in Henderson came together for a themed lunch and presentation to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

It was a great opportunity to create space for learning, kōrero and connection, while celebrating te reo Māori and encouraging each other to use more of the language in our everyday conversations - at work and beyond.

A big ngā mihi to everyone who joined in and helped bring the celebration to life.

Kia kaha te reo Māori.

Ake, ake, ake - a forever language. 🌿

This week, we’re celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week.

At Programmed, creating a workplace where people feel respected, included and connected is part of how we work. Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is an opportunity to strengthen that connection by embracing more te reo Māori in our everyday conversations. 💬

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing simple ways to bring more te reo into our everyday kōrero. Whether it’s kia ora, mōrena or ngā mihi, every word counts.

Kia kaha te reo Māori.

We recently welcomed a group from the Māori and Pasifika Trades Training programme (MPTT) to Programmed Facility Management.

As part of the visit, the group met members of our team and visited one of our live sites at Blockhouse Bay Community Centre.

Seeing a project in progress gave learners firsthand insight into how work is planned, managed and delivered safely, while introducing them to the people, skills and career pathways that make facility management possible.

As Programmed celebrates 75 years, we’re proud to continue investing in people and supporting initiatives that create meaningful pathways for Māori and Pasifika learners into the trades.

A big thank you to everyone from MPTT who joined us and to our Programmed team for sharing their knowledge and experience.

Innovation is about more than adopting new technology – it's about creating better outcomes for our customers, communities and people.

Recently, Programmed welcomed Chris Hipkins and Megan Woods from the Labour Party to one of our Auckland sites, where we showcased how innovation, sustainability and workforce development are helping shape the future of facility management.

The visit highlighted our use of Instagrid portable battery technology distributed by Pacific Diamond Tools NZ to reduce environmental impact while improving efficiency across our operations. We also discussed our commitment to developing future talent through apprenticeships, our partnership with the Māori and Pacific Trades Training (MPTT) programme, and the importance of supporting local suppliers and long-term community partnerships.

Together, these initiatives are helping us deliver lasting value while building a more sustainable and resilient future.

At Programmed, career development is more than a pathway it's part of who we are.

Whether it's Adriany progressing from Request for Service Coordinator to Project Manager, Grace stepping into a Project Coordinator role after just one year, or Evelyn advancing from the Parks Loose Litter team to Service Delivery Manager, these journeys show what's possible when opportunity meets initiative.

Through mentoring, leadership development, Career Pathways and the support of experienced leaders, we're committed to helping our people grow and build meaningful careers.

As Adriany says:
"See the opportunity, find a way to grab it."
Because when our people grow, our teams, clients and communities benefit too.

Mānawatia a Matariki

Today we celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year, a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look ahead with hope.

This year's theme, Matariki Herenga Waka – For Everyone, reminds us that Matariki is a celebration that brings people together. It's an opportunity to honour those who have passed, spend time with whānau and friends and embrace new beginnings.

We're proud to work alongside our people, customers and communities across Aotearoa, New Zealand. Today is a chance to pause, reconnect and appreciate the relationships that help us make a positive difference every day.

Whether you're sharing a meal, attending a local event, spending time outdoors or simply enjoying time with loved ones, we hope your day is filled with connection, reflection and celebration.

From all of us, Mānawatia a Matariki.
Wishing everyone a safe, happy and meaningful Matariki.

Auckland’s coastline is being restored following Cyclone Gabrielle, with safety, sustainability and collaboration at the centre of delivery.

Programmed has completed Phase 1 of a coastal fencing project delivered for Auckland Council, following a design developed by reNature and Auckland Council’s Landscape team, with input from a wide range of technical specialists and cultural advisors.

The works included the removal and replacement of approximately 600 metres of coastal fencing, delivered in accordance with Heritage Authority approvals, resource consent conditions, and Tree Owner requirements.

A ground screw solution was used in sensitive areas to reduce environmental impact and protect ecological and cultural values, while enabling a more resilient coastal edge.

The design also supports more than 1200 square metres of future native planting, strengthening long term erosion protection and biodiversity outcomes.

Phase 2 planting and regeneration works are now underway.
Artistic panels will be installed once fabrication is complete, following a controlled weathering process applied to Corten steel to achieve the specified finish.
