This is something I often hear. But I do often get the call from help from those who hate the time and effort they spend struggling to keep up with their bookkeeping.

🕵️‍♂️ MYTH BUSTING: “It’s easy to do my bookkeeping myself” ❌

Yes, you could do it yourself but why would want you? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀

Having to track all your accounts, customers, and moving parts can get complicated quickly, leading to nagging subconscious questions like “did I forget to enter that big purchase?” or “will we have enough after that weekly payment?”.

Sure engaging a bookkeeper comes at a cost, but if you weigh that up against the stress of trying to keep track of your books, it is an investment that would be hard regret.

➡️ Let’s bust that myth and replace it with “I work smarter, not harder by engaging a bookkeeper to manage my books for me”

This creative marketing we saw on our trip to Zambia was hilarious. I don’t quite get the link between roof tiles and lawlessness. However, I’ll never forget the brand Harvey Tiles. Effective marketing is not always what we might think is good marketing. 😂

I love my flash new e-bike. It's probably over specced for me but it is a great ride and gets me out and about. The experience of purchasing it was interesting. And makes me wonder how much cash retailers are leaving on the table and what a big difference a little bit of training could make to sales and customer experience.
We went to the bike shop with quite a specific idea of what we wanted and the budget. We were shown a bike that fitted the bill and was a specifically women's bike in nondescript grey. We were also shown a more expensive bike with higher specs.
I made a comment that the lower priced one was good enough but I preferred the colour of the more expensive one. It took my husband to ask about the option we went for in a lovely colour and more sporty look that is not gender specific but is similarly specced and priced. I'm so glad he asked because I'm so much happier with this one than I would have been with the grey one.
We were not offered any upsells of accessories such as mudguards, lights, helmet drink bottle holder and stand etc. Some of which we did need and buy.
Today I received an email addressed to Ally. Who is Ally? I find it really annoying when businesses get my name wrong and don't take the time to check it.
My point is that it really doesn't take much effort to give great customer service and it will be reflected in the bottom line. Sometimes we are blind to this in our own business. Have you had similar experiences? What can you learn from them to implement in your own business? Its certainly got me thinking about how I do things.

On Sunday I ran a half marathon - in the rain. I loved it and did my best time since I was a lot younger on what everyone regarded as a tough course. I put this great result down to following a successful program and sticking to it. Anything you want to achieve? Can you find a program to follow or design one yourself so that you set yourself up for success?

I received a thank you card from a client. It really made me feel appreciated and grateful for the opportunity to work with lovely people in an organisation doing such worthwhile work. It’s something quite unusual to receive something in the post that isn’t bills these days. It reminded me how important it is to be grateful and say thank you.

Sick leave entitlements are changing from 5 days to 10 days per annum from mid July. Employees will be entitled to 10 days from their next sick leave anniversary date after the legislation comes into force. The maximum entitlement will increase to 25 days from 20 days. Will this make a big difference to employers? I think there will always be some employees who take advantage but on the whole I think it will make work places healthier and probably more productive. Employees will be less inclined to turn up sick and infect their co-workers and for long term employees who have built up their sick leave an extra 5 days will not make that much difference. If possible allowing employees to work from home when not feeling 100% can help reduce the liability and keep up productivity.

Last week I realised a long held dream and attended an Outward Bound course. I had a fantastic time with a wonderful group of people. I learnt so many skills and new boundaries of what I am capable of achieving. What is something that you have always wanted to do?
