Three truths every business owner should understand before selling

One of the most common mistakes business owners make is assuming that selling is simply about finding a buyer and agreeing on a price. In reality, value is protected (or lost) much earlier, often long before a business ever goes to market.

LINK Business has recently published a thoughtful article titled *“Three truths every business seller should know”*, which clearly explains where risk really sits in a sale process and what separates strong outcomes from disappointing ones.

The three themes are simple, but critical:

• Confidentiality is a value driver, not a courtesy
• The highest-risk phase is due diligence, not finding a buyer
• Businesses that maintain performance during a sale achieve better outcomes

These are not theoretical ideas, they are lessons learned repeatedly in real transactions, across all industries and business sizes.
