We love all journalists at Mabel Maguire and the work they do, but there's a special place in our heart for a few: dreamboat renegade Paddy Gower Has Issues, winningly enthusiastic Wallace Chapman, and investigative powerhouse Paula Penfold, who wrote this this week about the coronation of the new Māori kuini:

"And for me, as a Pākehā, the only question was how anyone could have a problem with this and what it represents... Why would you feel threatened? ... Why would you feel it imposed on you, or pretend there’s less value in learning this language than another, that the plasticity of growing brains is somehow compromised by just this reo, but not others from half a world away? How could you feel anything but an adjacent pride?" We couldn't have said it better ourselves... and we're professional communicators (who love our te reo lessons)!

And why a blurry video frame makes me happy

Thanks to TVNZ+ for asking about masculinity in the workplace, Mark Zuckerberg, and why Mabel Maguire will always be women-only.

The Facebook founder has called for more "masculine energy" in the corporate world. But what is that exactly? And is it missing here?

Our work with Pause Breathe Smile is always interesting and rewarding… and when it comes to learning about the dangers of social media a little bit scary!

For our children and teens, managing social media is like trying to take a sip of water from a fire hose. It’s relentless, overwhelming and unmanageable. It’s no wonder that a survey released in August…

It must be almost 10 years that we've worked with Coco's Cantina. They are the best sort of clients - zero drama, good at what they do, trusting, fun and full of integrity. So nice to be able to help them celebrate 15 years in business with a visit to Nat Rad...

When sisters Renee and Damaris Coulter set up Coco's Cantina on a corner of Auckland's K'Road, they were just focused on the restaurant's survival. But 15 years later, the restaurant's become a K'Road institution.

"...social media is where nuance goes to die". This video by the The New York Times is a great take on how the Israel vs Palestine war is being hijacked by brands and influencers in the worst possible way.

Social media demands that you’re with us or against us.

OK, we're a little bit biased, but we think Verity Johnson's piece in Stuff on the election is the most insightful thing we've read in the post-bloodbath analysis. And infinitely more interesting than articles about Amanda Luxon's arms.

OPINION: The country isn’t in love with him. They don’t even really like him that much. He’s just there because he’s not Chris Hipkins.

Our friends at The Kindness Institute are doing the work that the Government has failed to do - support the mental health of our most vulnerable kids - and even still they've had their funding slashed. So they're asking the country's wealthy to put their money where their mouth is, and support their work. Genius idea.

After a funding cut, The Kindness Institute has penned an open letter to 90 wealthy Kiwis.

A broken trophy, employees drinking through the night, getting caught drunk driving... and the CEO is petulant and sarcastic when asked what went wrong. This is a masterclass is how NOT to handle an interview when your business is going through a crisis.

All Rugby players from the team that trashed the Ranfurly shield are available for selection for this weekend's games despite an ongoing investigation into behaviour at a post match party. Pictures of the Log O' Wood busted in half surfaced on social media, including some that show white powder on t...

It's World Architecture Day. Here's a piece on the future of architecture and the planet that we created for the New Zealand Institute of Architects as part of our ongoing work with them.

This World Architecture Day, we’re taking an opportunity to consider our urban communities and built environments. How do we make them more resilient? Less taxing on the planet? More socially cohesive and able to cope with population pressures?

Getting a client on Kim Hill is no mean feat. But when it happens, it's so good... here's the greatest graphic designer in the world talking to Kim ahead of coming to Aotearoa next week.

New York-based Paula Scher is one of the world's most influential graphic designers. A partner at Pentagram design studio since 1991, she began her career as an art director in the 1970s and 80s, when she earned a reputation for her eclectic approach to typography. For over four decades, she has dev...

Very excited to be working with Alt Group on bringing the AGI Open to Aotearoa next week. They've been a dream client over the past four or five months: realistic, decisive and trusting, with a real story to tell. And the media coverage that has started to appear is fab, too, thanks to journalists that understand the talent about to arrive on our shores.

Talking fonts, inspiration vs copying and timeless appeal with the legendary Belgian designer.
