You often get paid according to how difficult your contribution is to replace.

Is the laptop worker necessarily working harder?
No.
Is the warehouse worker less valuable as a person?
Absolutely not.
But the marketplace doesn’t consistently reward effort, sacrifice or exhaustion. It tends to reward:
