Ask TGR: “I paid two weeks’ rent in advance… can I use that at the end?”

Ashleigh’s clearing up a really common bit of confusion around rent in advance.

The rent paid at the start of a tenancy covers the rental period ahead. It isn’t held aside to be used for the final weeks of the tenancy.

That means rent still needs to be paid through to the final day.

If you’re getting ready to move out and aren’t sure where your rent is paid up to, Ashleigh or your property manager can check it for you.
