With a heavy heart, I share the sad news of the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Ruth Lavelle Treacy.
Ruth wasn’t just someone I worked alongside, she was a treasured friend, a confidant, and a steady, compassionate presence through many chapters of my life and work. Her loyalty, kindness, and warmth touched me deeply and left a mark that will never fade.
We met through our shared commitment to Pacific communities, especially through her role at advocating our communities needs, but our bond quickly went far beyond professional lines. Ruth was the kind of person who gave generously of herself to others. She stood beside us not just in work, but in spirit, supporting our team at Fiso Group, standing up for Pacific peoples, and reminding us daily what genuine care and quiet strength looked like.
Her absence is hard to understand, gone far too early. My heart goes out to her husband Simon, their children, and the wider Treacy family. May they find peace and comfort in the incredible love and impact Ruth leaves behind.
Manuia lau malaga, dearest Ruth. You were a true friend. I will miss you always.
With love and respect,
Fiso John Fiso
