🔎 Pre-Walk Technician Opportunity | Immediate Start Available | Hamilton, Waikato 🚶‍♂️📱

OPS Group is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Pre-Walk Technician to join our growing team in Hamilton.

This role will see you supporting a major water infrastructure project by conducting pre-installation site assessments for upcoming water meter installations. You'll be responsible for identifying reinstatement requirements, recording site information, measurements and photographs, and using SIMPRO and other field applications to accurately capture and manage job data.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving significant daily walking across residential and commercial areas. While the primary focus is pre-walk assessments, the role may also involve assisting with labouring and other field activities as required.

What We're Looking For:

✅ Full Class 1 Driver Licence
✅ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
✅ Ability to confidently identify different surface and reinstatement types, including concrete, hotmix, grass, and areas where no reinstatement is required
✅ Strong observational and problem-solving skills
✅ Comfortable working independently and managing daily workloads
✅ Good communication and record-keeping skills
✅ Confidence using smartphones, tablets, SIMPRO, and other digital field applications (previous SIMPRO experience is advantageous but not essential)
✅ Ability to accurately capture site information, measurements, photographs, hazards, access issues, proposed meter locations, and potential installation constraints
✅ Physically fit and capable of significant daily walking in an outdoor environment
✅ Commitment to maintaining a safe, professional, and customer-focused approach while working in the community

We had a great time earlier this month at the Oho Mauri Expo.

Oho Mauri is doing great work supporting rangatahi who have stepped away from school, helping them build confidence, develop practical skills, and prepare for the workforce.

It was a privilege for the OPS Group team to spend the day alongside other Waikato businesses, connecting with tauira and sharing a bit about what we do and the pathways that can lead into our industry.

We brought along a couple of hands-on challenges, including joining pipe fittings and bending copper. It was great to see the tauira getting stuck in, putting in the mahi, and improving with practice as they gave it another go.

There were some good laughs, a few prizes handed out, and plenty of positive energy throughout the day.

A big thank you to Oho Mauri for having us. We’re proud to support initiatives that help create real pathways into work for the next generation.
