Hi all, slowly getting through the mountain of repairs in the workroom. Didn't help having a couple of "holidays" last year but life often throws things at you to make you stronger they say... π€£
As we're getting closer to needing covers on our horses thought I'd do a few reminders for those bringing me work. π
* covers must be dry and clean. Dried dirt can be removed with a vacuum cleaner or broom.
* if neckrugs don't need fixing please remove them.
* if only the legstrap needs a clip just leave me the legstrap.
* some front cover fittings can easily have a clip added by undoing it so I don't need the whole cover.
* if leather fittings please remember to keep them oiled.
* matted horse hair goes hard so helps if regularly give a good brush of the lining.
* spray CRC if clips are getting a bit sticky as they do collect dirt.
* it does help me when customers either mark what needs fixing or write notes down. This helps me spend less time looking for the faults.
After getting back into it some days have been questioning my sanity to keep doing it as it can be a very dusty and physically demanding job πͺ. Machines don't have reverse so even a simple small patch can create a large pile of dust. Machine mechanics are not cheap either so need machines to keep functioning well (and the operator functioning too π€£). Cleaning the workroom is a gym workout that's not so easy for me to do at the moment.
Most of my wonderful customers are great at not bringing the paddock with the rugs but hopefully a few tips might make you check them before dropping off.
If throwing any covers out that still have good fittings that can be removed and reused they come in handy to help keep everyone's costs down. π€
Hopefully once caught up I will get back into doing some Wairau Covers for the season.
Thanks for reading. Stay warm and dry on this wet day. ππ
