We are staying connected with our clients and candidates as best as we can during this time. The next 4 weeks will be a challenge for everyone in NZ, this is an unprecedented situation, and many businesses are doing their best to continue from home. We appreciate that remote working can have its challenges especially for those with children who are now home from school and daycare.
At CER recruitment we have long been advocates of working from home and we wanted to share our top tips for remote working to those of you who may be working from home for the first time.
CER Recruitment's top tips for remote working
1. Keep to your routine! Get up, shower, get changed – it doesn’t have to be work attire but just not what you have slept in. Feeling ‘ready’ for work helps with your mindset for the day
Write a list of what you want to/need to achieve.
2. It’s easy to feel out of sorts when you are not in your regular office environment, so writing a list can help to organise what you need to be focusing on.
3. Stay hydrated, and take regular breaks as you would in the office. It’s good to get up and move, a lap around the block to clear the mind can also have huge benefits (please be mindful of other people who may be out and keep a safe 2m+ distance)
4. Communicate – keep in contact with your team/colleagues through email, Microsoft teams, and phone! Speaking to someone can often achieve results much faster than back and forth emails. It’s also really important to feel connected, and frequent communication helps achieve this.
5. It’s okay to find remote working hard. It’s a big adjustment for everyone. Be kind to yourselves.
