For Kathmandu, that question has been part of the design process for decades. Built on a philosophy of connecting with nature, Kathmandu has woven ground-breaking sustainable initiatives throughout their garments and lifecycle processes for decades.

As a leader in lifestyle apparel, they view every stage of a garment’s life as an opportunity - opting for recycled, natural or carbon- positive materials in manufacturing, designing products for longevity. And when garments finally reach the end of their wearable life, Kathmandu partners with ImpacTex to ensure those materials can be responsibly recycled and kept out of landfill.

We are excited to say that this partnership is only getting bigger and better- with 8 stores across the upper North Island offering recycling to their communities including Kathmandu Queen Street, Botany, Waitakere, Sylvia Park, Newmarket, Tauranga CBD, Tauriko and Te Rapa.

AS Colour truly back local circular innovation, being avid proponents of our onshore recycling and recovery solutions for NZ's textile waste. To support their community, AS Colour proudly offer a free-to-use ImpacTex recycling station to the public in select stores- and the initiative is only growing, with the addition of a Mount Maunganui drop-point πŸ‘

We want to highlight AS Colour for doing the right thing, for the right reasons- taking any and all garments, including those from other brands. Because of their dedication to real impact, AS colour stores directly led to 1,735KG of garments donated to local charities in 2025, and well over 3,000KG recovered and recycled. This, alongside their many responsible sourcing and waste reduction initiatives, reflects a true drive to leave a positive impact on the planet.

Here are the AS Colour stores where you can drop your unwanted garments:

AS Colour Albany
AS Colour Ponsonby
AS Colour High St
AS Colour Mt Eden
AS Colour Newmarket
AS Colour Sylvia Park
AS Colour Manawa Bay
AS Colour Westgate
AS Colour Mt Maunganui

Punch with Purpose! πŸ‘Š
You may not see it on first glance, but there is something very different- special- about these boxing bags.

When you purchase one, you’re not just buying a bag. You’re:
♻️ Diverting textile waste from landfill
🀝 Providing meaningful paid employment to our neurodiverse and differently abled whānau
🌿 Supporting an onshore sustainable initiative
🀜 Making every punch have a positive impact.

They are the cumulative result of months of collaboration between NZ Boxer, Rebel Sport NZ, Will&Able and ImpacTex - with the goal of delivering a punching bag that creates value for the environment and our community.

Each bag is filled with New Zealand textile waste that was destined to go straight to our landfills, with a staggering 20 tonne+ diverted so far. ImpacTex collects and prepares these materials for their next life, and the will&able team expertly pack them into the boxing bags, providing important work to their neurodiverse and differently abled team.

We couldn’t be more chuffed about this perfect collab, bringing together the things we value most- good people, transforming everyday items into positive social and environmental impact, and backing local innovation and manufacturing.

If this story inspires you to think differently about the everyday products in your industry, have a think- what could I reinvent to be Better?

Every garment has value β€” far beyond landfill!

The Warehouse is tackling New Zealand's textile waste head-on, by making clothing recycling accessible to their community and this collab between The Warehouse, The Salvation Army New Zealand and ImpacTex is doing loads of Good πŸ‘

What is The Good Drop all about?
🌱 Diverting resources from landfill and preventing environmental pollution
🀝 Connecting quality clothing with Salvation Army Family Stores, supporting communities and funding their vital mahi
♻️ Bringing textiles into the local circular economy, where they can be remade into fully recycled and recyclable products
πŸ’ͺ Empowering people all over New Zealand with a genuine and accessible solution for clothing waste.

We couldn't be prouder to be part of this team, delivering both social and environmental benefit to New Zealand's regions and cities.

This pilot is currently running in Petone, Whangārei, Takanini, Hillcrest in Hamilton, and Barrington in Christchurch. Simply drop your bag of clean, preloved clothing in the bin, and let The Warehouse take care of stewarding your textiles to their new life. It is inspiring to see a major nationwide retailer in New Zealand take responsibility for the wellbeing of our natural environment, and back the local circular economy. With a partnership like this, BIG things become possible.

Thanks to Caroline Dewstow, Phil Cu***ng and The Warehouse Group - we can't wait to see the impact we can make together.

See the Impact of recycling your textiles with icebreaker!

We are beyond proud to grow our successful in-store textile recycling programme with icebreaker, with the addition of their Albany and Manawa Bay stores πŸŽ‰ And because we love a circular story- these bins are wrapped in our unique Alpine sleeves made from 100% NZ recycled textiles! Containing no harmful dyes or bleach in the recycling process, these Alpine panel sleeves are created using pure white textiles that ImpacTex sort and process specifically- the flecks of colour in the panels showcasing its past life with pride πŸ₯Ό

Worried that your garments are too good to recycle? Fear not- every item ImpacTex receives is meticulously graded, with all appropriate clothing going directly to our partner charities including All Heart NZ, Hato Hone St John Opshops, Ripple and Everlasting. In 2024 we received over 2000KG of textiles from icebreaker locations- almost 1/4 of that was donated 🀝 🌱

Our endless gratitude to icebreaker, for consistently striving for a more circular, natural and valued textile system- and encouraging their customers to contribute to this better system.

Head on into icebreaker Albany or Manawa Bay to check out their new collection points, and see the circular possibilities that come to life when you commit to keeping precious textile resources out of landfill ♻️ 🌏
