Solayer on Tour.

Did you know we install throughout South Canterbury, Mackenzie Basin, Otago and Southland?

We offer off-grid systems, residential systems and small to mid-scale farm systems.

Our primary goal is to reduce the cost of your power. So maximising the amount of power you can produce and consume yourself, we’re also pretty good at removing some of those pesky monthly lines charges!

Farmers will always need power, and more so as we look to electrify more and remove our reliance on imported energy in the form of diesel, petrol and LPG. Let’s make the cost of that power as low as possible.

No ongoing subscription costs, no pushy sales team, just a bunch of farmers wanting to help rural New Zealanders get power for cheaper.

Leaving a light footprint is something we value at Solayer!

Trades have a bad reputation for being wasteful, we don’t want to be part of that narrative so from day dot we have sorted our waste on site and we remove and store until a good recycling/end of life option is available!

The wood we use for our ground mount array bracing now forms a handy reusable set, even down to the screws!

Soft plastics, hard plastics, fiddly flexible plastic banding, wood, cardboard, paper, metal waste and panels broken in transport. All collected, sorted, stored and a suitable option found.

Broken panels happen, but phoenixrecyclingnz have an option to harvest the valuable materials and ensure that these resources aren’t wasted. Once processed, up to 98% of a panel’s components can be successfully recovered and reused. This includes:

- Glass (which makes up ~75% of a panel)
- Aluminium frames
- Silicon from photovoltaic cells
- Metals like silver, copper, and tin in connectors and cabling

It’s important to us that solar installations don’t become another waste stream into agriculture or anywhere else in our communities for that matter.

Yes we sure would, in fact we do!

Both Dave and Dunstan are off-grid and Becks already has one solar array on farm, currently putting in a second!

We believe in our products and systems so much, we use them ourselves!

…we also love installing solar so much we do it in our spare time! 🤣

148kWp installed with a 110kW inverter powering a pump that feeds a fixed grid irrigation set up.

Tony is stoked with his install, and this system is designed to get up to maximal production quickly and stay there all day long!

With 6 months worth of data now we can tell you that this beauty can crack 1MW of production in a day with the right conditions.
