Why we started Red Kite Relocation?

We moved from Switzerland to New Zealand over 3 years ago, with our young children. We had lots of support to find a job and get a visa, but we didn’t realise how unprepared we were regarding school, houses, work culture, food and so many other little things.

With time we adjust, we adapt, but we could have made the better informed decisions from the start.

Now we are in a great place and would like to pay it forward by supporting other make the move calmly and thrive here.

We don’t just share information — we help you make sense of it, step by step.

What does everyday life really feel like in New Zealand?

It’s often simpler.
Less rush.
Less pressure.

More space — physically and mentally.

But it also requires adjustment.
Things may take longer.
Systems work differently.
And you need to find your rhythm again.

That’s part of the journey — and also part of the reward.

Let’s talk about cost of living in New Zealand
This is one of the biggest questions — and rightly so.

Some things may be more expensive than in Switzerland:
• Imported goods
• Housing in certain areas

But you may also find:
• Different lifestyle priorities
• Less pressure to “keep up”
• A shift in how you define value

It’s not just about numbers — it’s about what you get in return.

There’s anticipation — and sometimes doubt.
Excitement — and sometimes uncertainty.
That’s completely normal.

Relocation isn’t just logistics. It’s a life transition.

At Red Kite Relocation, we understand both sides — the practical and the personal — because we’ve lived it ourselves.

What excites you most about moving? And what worries you?
