Another smaller Winter sale this week with young stock making up most of the yarding today. Saler x wnr bulls @ 180kg were fetching $900 with WH wnr bulls @ 159kg making $870. Frsn wnr bulls made $800 and Frsn x wnr bulls made $650. WH wnr hfrs @ 165kg sold for $920. Cull cows were selling from $1,460 - $2,280 or $3.14 - $4.42kgLW depending on weights and condition. With Winter now setting in our yarding has eased up with just over 100 cattle selling on a steady market overall. A line of young Angus x MT cows were fetching $1,530 - $2,230. A line of Ang x wnr hfrs made $840 and WH wnr steers sold for $980. MT Dairy hfrs were trading at $1,870 with another smaller yarding of cull cows today selling from $850 - $2,150 or $2.18 - $3.37kgLW depending on weights and condition. Just on 50 calves rolled in today with prices pretty steady overall. Frsn bulls made $280 with WH bulls fetching $310 - $370 and SIMM x bulls making $365. WH hfrs were fetching $250 - $270 and SIMM x hfrs made $260 - $465. As the Autumn season is officially finished we would just like to thank all our vendors and purchasers on a very successful season with 1809 head going under the hammer and a record total season average of $432/hd achieved over all calves sold with a top sale average of $522/hd achieved in March. Thanks again to everyone who has supported our calf sales this Autumn and we look forward to a big Spring ahead here at Rongotea and Dannevirke!

In the cattle pens, the yarding today was small due to a short week. R2 WH steers @ 431kg made $1,870 or $4.33kgLW. MT Dairy hfrs were trading at $980 - $1,200 and a smaller yarding of cull cows rolled in today with these selling from $760 - $1,610 or $2 - $2.82kgLW depending on weights and condition.
