Mānawatia a Matariki

As we welcome Matariki, KTV Consulting will be taking the next two weeks to pause, reflect, refresh, and renew.

This sacred time marks the beginning of our Māori New Year—a time to honour those who have journeyed to the stars, to give thanks for the blessings, growth, and lessons of the past year, and to look ahead with hope and purpose.

We will spend this time reconnecting with our whānau, our whenua, and the pathway our tūpuna have laid before us, taking the opportunity to renew our energy and our commitment to serving with integrity, humility, and aroha.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege of walking alongside our clients, partners, and communities, and we look forward to reconnecting with you after this time of reflection.

Until then, we wish you and your whānau a peaceful and meaningful Matariki.

Sometimes the weeks roll together and before you know it a couple of months have passed by. I am very honoured to have joined three Boards. Auckland City Mission Housing Ltd, Tūhono Trust and Barnados.

I love governance and my lived experience of running my own business, being an Iwi Chief Executive and a Crown Deputy Chief Executive is tremendously useful when making strategic decisions.

I also get to meet some amazing people such as Matua Stan Pardoe and Matua Arapata Reuben who both stepped off the Tūhono Board last week. And Kelly Brown and the bro Lewis Ratapu who both joined same time as I.
Next week I get to work with a new client in the rural heartland which is also part of the mahi I love. Working with our people who provide services on the ground.

We also had a magnificent hui with Waihaha 3D2 Trust last week in Turangi. I learnt so much about Forestry from our Chairman. It was very cool.

As we enter Matariki, I encourage you all to take time to reflect on your year. Celebrate all that has been good, learn from the challenges and remember your loved ones.

Sharing some of our recent mahi. We don't post unless our clients give us permission or tag us in thier posts. It is fair to say Jacky James was a little hesitant at the start but now her AI buddy is always on hand to help. We love the work Jacky does and her team are amazing.

Been quietly translating our AI study into tangible and useful tools. KTV Consulting - Karen Tataiwhetu Vercoe has added AI adoption and implementation as one of our services and we are loving how it is helping some of our favourite people. I think we spent just over an hour with Jacky and boom! ...

As a small business we appreciate calling on our own whānau to help and support our development. Today my 22-year old son Kahuao undertook python training with me. We are building and testing algorithms.

KTV Consulting – Karen Tataiwhetu Vercoe is back for 2026 and looking forward to sharing our latest learnings in Artificial Intelligence and organisational development.

Last year, our focus was on prompts — learning how to kōrero with AI so it truly understands our intent. This year, we’ve gone deeper, exploring Strategic Planning with AI and the application of AI in Governance.

One key takeaway? The more you learn, the more you realise just how much there is still to learn. And that’s exactly where the opportunity lies.
We’re excited to continue this journey and support organisations to use AI thoughtfully, strategically, and in ways that create real value.

Confirmation of Level 1: Social Value Associate.

Pleased to be adding this skill to the kete. The goal is to be able to undertake Social Value assessments to support clients demonstrate thier impact. Step 1 partially completed with an exam to come. Then two major stages following, with reports that will be assessed to meet Social Value assurance standards. A bit of work to do but will be worth it to support my clients who are the true rock stars. E mihi ana ki a Waylyn Tahuri Whaipakanga and Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga for allowing me to join thier training cohort in Tāmakimakaurau.
