HE PANUI TENEI
Kia ora tatou, nga mihi o te wa.
A candidates information evening is scheduled to be held on Monday 17th February at Te Whetu o te Rangi Marae, 612 Welcome Bay Road, Waitao starting with a powhiri at 5.30pm. The objective is designed to help prepare and provide guidance to potential Te Awanui Māori Ward candidates interested in standing as an elected member in the up coming by-election.
It will provide an opportunity to share information about considering the attributes candidates might need as an elected member.
Joined by the Mayor of Tauranga as he talks about relationships with Mayor and Councillor's, the Electoral Officer will talk about election information, rules, safety, signs and results and current Maori ward Councillor's in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty will share their experience, insights and surprises. The evening will also focus on the relationship the elected member will need to build with tangata whenua, community groups and some of the Councils key partners.
Each session will allow speakers time to respond to questions from the audience.
The event will be filmed with key portions of the event to host on the Council’s webpage. The event links to the wider election campaign’s purpose to raise awareness of the community.
Information packs will be provided to all attendees on the night.
RSVP and for catering purposes, I would appreciate that you respond by return email by Saturday 15 Feb, 5pm.
I am happy for you to share this email. I look forward to hearing from you.
