From 28 August 2026, the citizenship application fees have increased:
👤 Adult (16+) — now $641
👧 Child (15 and under) — now $320
📝 Citizenship by descent — from $278

Also reminder:
Most citizenship-by-grant applicants will need to pass an in-person test covering NZ government, rights & responsibilities, voting, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and more from late 2027.

🚨Adviser update🚨

Immigration New Zealand has announced key changes for visa applicants starting September 2026:

Tonga Updates (From 14 September)
New Centre: A new Visa Application Centre (VAC) opens in Nuku'alofa, operated by VFS Global.
Paper Applications: All paper applications and Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) visas must go through this new VAC.
Services: Offers face-to-face service, longer hours, and appointment bookings (a VAC service fee applies).

Samoa Updates (From 7 September)
Samoan Quota Route: Applicants must submit paper forms, documents, and fees directly to the Apia VAC.
Process: Immigration New Zealand Apia still assesses and decides on applications; only the intake and digitisation processes are changing.

What we initially hoped would be a smooth application turned into an almost 1-year wait, with several communications with immigration, and the residence visa was finally approved just 5 days before the 1-year anniversary of submission! 🥹🙏
