Marvellous review of our 2019 Martinborough Pinot in the new livery. Cracked a bottle last night alongside a beautifully elegant The Elder 2015 ,a rambunctious Gigondas, and an expertly aged CO Riesling from Chard Farm. A little slow this morning.
Pinot Brothers Pinot Noir 2019, Martinborough
Darl ruby-black with good transparency, lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented, with gentle aromas of black cherry and raspberry intertwined with hibiscus, dried herb and a hint of game. Medium-bodied, black cherry intermixed raspberry and a suggestion of prune; hibiscus unfolds with nutmeg, black pepper, dried thyme, mushroom and forest floor. The flavour has concentration, with lifted floral and red fruit details, lacy acidity support and lingers to a long, very fine, elegant finish. Supple tannins lightly adorn the mouthfeel in silk. This is a refined Pinot Noir with delicate flavours and graceful development on a silky, enticing palate. Match with roasted quail and lamb shabushabu over the next 5-8 years. Fermented with 10% whole bunches with wild yeasts to 13.5% alc, 20-21 days on skins, aged 12 months in seasoned French oak barrels. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $50
