Stand Up, Speak Out, and Bake a Difference! 🩷🧁

This Pink Shirt Day, a sea of pink washed over our Assurity offices! Across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, our amazing teams came together to celebrate diversity, spread kindness, and take a firm stand against bullying.

To mark the occasion, we hosted a nationwide Pink Shirt Day Bake Off alongside our Branch Hui. From incredible cupcakes to delicious treats, our team brought their best baking skills to the table - all for a fantastic cause.

Together, we raised vital funds for the Assurity Staff Charitable Trust, proving that when we share some kai and a bit of aroha, we can make a real difference in our communities.

A massive thank you to everyone who baked, donated, and wore their pink with pride.

Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora! (Speak up, Stand together, Stop bullying!)

Reflecting on a compelling afternoon at the Government Innovation Showcase Aotearoa 2026. Assurity was proud to sponsor and host Roundtable 7, where we dove deep into a critical challenge facing today’s public sector: Agentic AI – How do we secure and retain citizen trust?

It was an honour to co-facilitate this session alongside Matt Winter, CIO of NZ Police.

The level of engagement from across our public sector agencies highlighted just how pressing the conversation around security, ethics, and accountability in autonomous AI has become.

As AI transitions from a tool we query to agents that act on our behalf, maintaining the trust of the Kiwi public must remain our primary collective focus.

A sincere thank you to Matt for his invaluable insights, to the Public Sector Network for putting together an excellent event at Tākina, and to everyone who joined our table to contribute to the discussion.

The conversation does not stop here. We are looking at establishing an ongoing AI discussion forum to continue unpacking these frameworks.

If you are a public sector leader interested in joining these future sessions, please reach out.

Big news! Assurity Consulting has been named a Finalist for Employer of the Year at The Post 2026 Gold Awards!

Celebrating over 20 years since starting in Wellington in 2005, this recognition of our safe, supportive workplace and exceptional people practices feels especially meaningful.

As Katie Ham, General Manager of People, shares, "Our guiding principle has always been to ‘build the right thing and build it right’, and we know that high-quality outcomes for our clients are only possible when our people feel supported, challenged, and valued."

"From comprehensive day-one wellbeing support to advanced AI upskilling, our people are at the heart of everything we deliver. A massive thank you to our entire team of consultants who bring our culture of care and high performance to life every single day - this nomination belongs entirely to you!"

What a day at Workday Elevate 2026! 🚀

A massive thanks to the Workday team for inviting Garth Hamilton and Katie Ham to share the Assurity story at the new NZICC.

It’s been a world-class event, from Garth’s keynote on the future of AI-driven outcomes to Katie’s panel on the human side of the platform. We especially loved experiencing Sana in action - the potential for Workday AI to streamline workflows and empower our teams is a total game-changer.

Kudos to the organisers for a brilliant day. We’re leaving inspired and ready for what’s next!

Looking for an IT consultancy where you are treated as a person, not just a resource?

At Assurity Consulting, we know the industry can be demanding. That is why we actively balance delivering exceptional work for our clients with genuine, proactive care for our people.

We do not just talk about a great culture; we back it up with real action:

Your health first: Paid sick leave from day one, Southern Cross medical insurance, and full Employee Assistance Program access.

Real transparency: Open progression frameworks and an 11.13% gender pay gap (tracking roughly 5% better than the market average).

Serious upskilling: We invest heavily in our team, like putting 93% of our staff through foundational AI training late last year.

Genuine support: We even run the Assurity Staff Charitable Trust to financially support our people when life takes an unexpected turn.

As one of our team members recently shared in our internal survey: "You are listened to, you are valued, and you are not seen as just a number."

We’re heading to Workday Elevate 2026 in Auckland on 29 April. Garth Hamilton, Managing Director, and Katie Ham, GM of People, have been invited to share how Assurity is managing the rapid shift toward AI by focusing on quality and staff enablement.

The Customer Keynote: Garth Hamilton
Eight years ago, Garth stood on the stage as Workday Customer #2065. Today, he’s returning as the independent voice of quality to challenge the status quo. He’ll be talking about why the "Human in the Loop" is an outdated concept and why Assurity is pivoting to an Expert-Driven AI Loop where people are the architects, not just the safety valve.

He will also share the reality of our 18-month journey using Workday Learning to demystify AI and gamify training for our staff. As AI agents take on the heavy lifting, Garth will discuss the inevitable shift toward Outcomes-as-a-Service, a new business model where revenue is earned through results rather than effort.

The HR Deep Dive: Katie Ham
Katie will join Nikki Mackay (CPO at FMG) to discuss the reality of maximising the Workday platform. They’ll dive into the human side of the technology to ensure your people remain the drivers of your digital future, rather than just users of a system.

Join us at the NZICC on 29 April. Register here: https://ap1.hubs.ly/y0JSv30

They say a team that sips and paints together, stays together! 🎨🥂 Our Auckland crew traded their keyboards for canvases and a whole lot of green for our St. Paddy’s themed night. Let’s just say we’ve got some serious hidden talents (and a few questionable brushstrokes) in the office! 🍀✨

Huge shoutout to the dream team for organizing such a brilliant event: Cindy Peyper, Mathilde Vachon, Sarah Bruckhaus, and Gareth Leibbrandt. You guys are absolute legends! 🙌

Championing progress and celebrating our people for International Women's Day. We gathered across our New Zealand offices for great conversations, purple cupcakes, and a shared commitment to advancing gender equality.

Staff wore purple and brought in baking to share and in the theme of "Give to Gain", we collected for the Assurity Staff Charitable Trust. We also made sure to have some creative fun. Our Christchurch office brewed a magic purple potion using Butterfly Pea Flower tea and lime juice, while Auckland celebrated a belated birthday for our wonderful colleague, Jolie Vuong.

Amidst the celebrations, we reflected on the journey still ahead. Our GM of People, Katie Ham, shared this powerful reminder with us, "The Department of Statistics reported the Gender pay gap had shrunk to 5.2 percent in June last year, the lowest ever recorded, which is fantastic progress. However, women are still over-represented in unemployment and under employment which hides some of the gap. LiveRem provides Assurity with our gender pay gap information compared to market. We are on the right side of average, but we are not at zero. Remuneration transparency helps address the gender pay gap, and so does consciously making space to recognise women for their talent and contributions. I am proud that Assurity is a place that does this.”

Swipe through for a few snapshots of our morning tea across the country. How are you consciously making space to recognise the women in your workplace?

How do you deliver a flawless technology upgrade across 1,140 retail stores and millions of digital touchpoints?

Lotto New Zealand recently completed one of their most significant system replacements ever. The EDGE programme required changing their core gaming engine while maintaining uninterrupted service for players nationwide.

To ensure everything ran perfectly, Lotto partnered with Assurity Consulting for rigorous quality assurance. The sheer scale of the project was massive:

✔️ Over 14,000 test cases executed
✔️ 1,140 retail stores upgraded on the exact same day
✔️ A 15-month testing journey from June 2024 to a successful Go Live in September 2025
✔️ A dedicated team scaling up to 15 Assurity QA experts

Sarah Thirlwall, Chief Transformation and Technology Officer at Lotto NZ, shared, "With 13 business units, sometimes with competing priorities and reporting lines, Assurity worked flexibly and thoroughly, always with the end goal in mind."

Following a record breaking $55 million draw with zero performance issues, Director of Software Delivery, David Gortner, added, "The value delivered to date reminds me of those credit card adverts, it is priceless. We couldn't have gotten to where we are today without Assurity's help."
