Not a bad spot to spend the day! ☀️🔧
A little behind-the-scenes look at a recent job for the Sunbound team, installing a ground-mounted solar system with a pretty impressive view!
From getting the framework in place to fitting the panels, there's a fair bit of work that goes into an installation like this.
It's always good to see everything come together, especially when the finished result looks this tidy.
Another job well done by the team! 🙌

If you’ve already decided solar is right for you-
Who should you trust to install it?

A quality solar installation is about much more than putting panels on a roof.
Look for an installer who considers:

☀️ The right system design for your individual home
🔋 Quality equipment backed by strong warranties
⚡ Experienced electrical workmanship
🏡 Your current and future energy needs
🤝 Support after the installation is complete
💬 Honest advice without unnecessary upselling

A solar system is a long-term investment, so choosing who installs and supports it matters.

At Sunbound, we’re a local electrical company specialising in solar and battery storage, and we believe the relationship shouldn't end when the installation does.

Solar isn't a “set it and forget it” investment.

Your energy needs can change. Technology evolves. You might add an EV, expand your battery storage or simply have questions about how to get more from your system.

That's why the support you receive after installation matters.
Choosing a local installer means having real people nearby who understand your system and can help with questions, changes, troubleshooting and future upgrades.

Sunbound is locally based in Whakatāne and specialises in solar, battery storage and electrical solutions throughout the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

We don't just want your system working well on installation day.
We want it working well for years to come.

Got more than one solar quote sitting in front of you?
Don't compare the bottom line alone.

Two systems with similar-looking specifications can be very different once you look at what's actually included.

Before making a decision, compare things like:
✔️ How the system has been designed for your property
✔️ The quality and reliability of the equipment
✔️ Manufacturer warranties
✔️ Installer experience and workmanship
✔️ What happens if you need help afterwards
✔️ Whether the system can accommodate your future plans

Price matters, but so does what you're getting for that price.
A properly designed system using quality equipment and backed by good local support may deliver far greater value over its lifetime than simply choosing the cheapest quote.

Ask questions. Understand what's included. Then compare.

What’s Actually Being Proposed?

There’s been plenty of talk about solar support in the lead-up to the election, but it’s important to separate what’s being proposed from what’s actually available today. ☀️

Different parties have announced plans aimed at helping more New Zealand households access solar, batteries and other energy upgrades, including proposed subsidies and low-cost financing options.

The key thing to remember? These are election policies, not schemes you can currently apply for.

As policies develop and more detail becomes available, we’ll keep an eye on the changes and help break down what they could actually mean for Kiwi homeowners.

No political spin and no confusing jargon, just useful information to help you understand your options.

Did You Know Your Bank May Help Fund Solar?

Government solar support might still be in the proposal stage, but there are already financing options available to some homeowners today. 🏡☀️

Several New Zealand banks offer special home-loan top-ups for eligible energy-efficient upgrades, which can include solar panels, Did You Know Your Bank May Help Fund Solar? Battery storage and, in some cases, EV charging.

Depending on your bank and circumstances, these may offer reduced-interest or interest-free lending for a set period.

If solar is already something you’re considering, it could be worth speaking with your bank or mortgage adviser to find out what options are available to you.

Understanding how you'll fund a system is just as important as understanding what system is right for your home.

Finance is subject to individual bank lending criteria, eligibility, terms and conditions. Sunbound does not provide financial advice. Offers can change, so always check directly with your lender for current information.

A good solar consultation shouldn't start with:
“How many panels would you like?”

It should start with questions.
⚡ How much electricity does your household use?
🕒 When during the day are you using it?
🚗 Do you already own an EV, or plan to?
🔋 Is backup power important to you?
🏡 Could your household's energy needs change in the future?

Understanding these things helps determine what kind of system actually makes sense for your home.

At Sunbound, we don't believe in simply pulling a standard solar package off the shelf. The goal is to understand what you're trying to achieve first, then design a system around it.

Because the right solar system isn't necessarily the biggest one.
It's the one that makes sense for you.

Thinking about buying an electric vehicle or already own one?
Your EV is just one part of your home's energy journey.

Instead of juggling multiple systems, you can see exactly how your home is generating, storing and using electricity.

It's smart, simple, and designed for the future.
