We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Hydroweld has been named a finalist in the 2026 Auckland CCNZ Hynds Construction Awards! 🏆

Our work on the Paerata Road Culvert upgrade Project has been recognised as a finalist in Project Category A an achievement, we’re incredibly proud of.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in bringing this project together. Being recognised alongside some of the best in the industry is a massive honour for our team.

Now we’re counting down to awards night we can’t wait to celebrate! 🥂🏆

We're excited to welcome Francois Du Plessis "Junior" to the Hydroweld Limited team! ⚙️

Junior is one of our up-and-coming Fusion Technicians who has quickly become a valued member of the Hydroweld family 🩵. Honest, reliable, and always eager to learn, he brings a positive attitude to work every day and is developing into a highly skilled Fusion technician.

Outside of work, Junior enjoys the quiet outdoors, especially hunting, where his patience and precision have made him a talented marksman. On weekends, you'll usually find him working on his 4x4, out hunting, or enjoying a good braai with the boys.

Junior has already stepped up on major projects, including successfully welding 1000mm electrofusion couplers in Rotorua. Under the guidance of Chris Hutchings and Francois Hansen, he's learning the trade from the ground up from understanding how polyethylene behaves to calculating bead sizes, checking ram sizes on machines, verifying welding pressures, and producing quality welds to the highest industry standards. Just the way we like it, doing things right from the start, and Junior is embracing that mindset every step of the way.

We're proud of all the progress Junior has made and look forward to watching him continue to grow into one of the industry's top Fusion Technician.

Yes, as part of our Waiwera Water and Wastewater Servicing Programme, we’re installing a new wastewater pump station and a 4.5-kilometre pipeline to connect it to the Hatfields Beach pump station 🏗️ The first section of the wastewater pipe is currently being installed on the Hibiscus Coast Highway and once the construction is complete, we’ll then be pumping the wastewater on from Hatfields Beach to the Army Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant, where it will be treated 👉 At the moment, the wastewater in the area goes through the Waiwera Wastewater Treatment Plant, but once this new system is up and running, we’ll be decommissioning the plant since it’s reached the end of its service life. The change in the treatment plant will mean a change in where the treated wastewater is discharged too, going from being discharged into the Waiwera estuary to being discharged via the Army Bay outfall after a more robust treatment process 💩 And the water side of things? We’ll be installing a new watermain to increase the reliability of the local network and cater for future growth 💧 Like we said, we’re on a highway to improved water and wastewater services in Waiwera!

💙 Happy Father’s Day 💙

Thursday evening, we switched off the welders and swapped our tools for tongs and a great BBQ, serving up Boerewors and Oepsies at Coast Kids on Karepiro. Surrounded by our loved ones, it was the perfect reminder of what really matters.

The highlight was the incredible Haka performed by the children to kick off the evening — a powerful expression of culture, pride, and unity. Moments like these remind us exactly why we work so hard every day.

It was an evening filled with laughter, good food, special memories, and a lively Rugby Quiz. To all the dads and father figures out there, thank you for everything you do. Wishing you a well-deserved day of celebration and love with your families.
