Several recent conferences have showcased FAMCO’s projects and the results of ongoing research.
We would like to thank the Oman Across Ages Museum for hosting the conference given by Mathilde Jean on the results of the 2026 fieldwork. As always, it was a pleasure to discuss our research and visit again the displays of this remarkable museum.
We also had the honour of participating in the First International Conference on the Archaeology of the Oman Peninsula, where Tara Beuzen-Waller, Mathilde Jean and Amir Beshkani presented their work in the Bisya region.

Tara Beuzen-Waller led a workshop at the Bisya and Sallut Visitor Center on the protection of archaeological sites from natural hazards, particularly floods and flash floods, which are becoming increasingly frequent due to global warming.
Her research also focuses on irrigation systems at early Bronze Age sites, particularly those recently discovered around the Al-Dhabi 1 site, to improve our understanding of long-term water management.

Research continues in the villages and gardens of the Adam oasis!

Archaeological surveys, photogrammetry, photographic documentation, and interviews with former residents are conducted to analyse the oasis landscape, the buildings, gardens, and the spatial and social organisation of villages that were abandoned in the 1980s.

We would like to thank Groupe GENEX () for its support and interest in this research program. The study of these vernacular complexes provides documentation on earthen construction techniques, their adaptation to the oasis environment, and their transmission through generations. It also supports discussions on the role of this know-how in contemporary architectural practices related to earthen construction.
