Interview Preparation — 3 Things Every PNG Job Seeker Must Do

You got the interview call. Now what?

1. Prepare Your Stories — Use the STAR Method

Situation: Describe the context
Task: What was your role?
Action: What steps did you take?
Result: What was the outcome?

Example: "At my volunteer role at the youth group, I organized a cleanup event for 50 people. Result: We collected 200kg of waste."

2. Dress Professional
Clean, neat, and respectful. Iron your shirt, polished shoes, and be well groomed. First impression matters in PNG.

3. Ask Smart Questions
At the end, ask: "What does success look like in this role?" or "Can you tell me about the team?" This shows you are interested.

🚨 Important Alert for All PNG Instagram Users – Safeguard Your Photos from AI Misuse! 🚨

Meta’s recent Muse Image AI tool let others tag public Instagram accounts to create AI-generated images based on your photos — often without consent or notification. It launched on by default, triggering strong backlash.

Update: Meta quickly removed the controversial tagging feature after public outcry.

Even better news for Papua New Guineans: The PNG Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has started drafting a new legal framework to criminalize harmful AI deepfakes, identity cloning, voice cloning, and digital impersonation. This will help protect citizens from non-consensual use of their image, voice, and likeness.

While laws are being developed, take action now to protect yourself!

Quick steps to opt out on Instagram:
1. Open the Instagram app → Go to your profile.
2. Tap the menu (three lines) → Settings and activity.
3. Select Sharing and reuse.
4. Turn OFF “Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Meta” for Posts and Reels.

Extra tips: Make your account private if possible, be cautious with public posts, and support the new ICT initiatives protecting us from AI abuse.
