🎉 Happy New Year from Divine Word University! 🎉As we step into a brand-new year, we give thanks for the journey that has shaped DWU into the university we are today—a place of learning, leadership, and service. DWU was founded as Divine Word High School by the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) missionaries and Holy Spirit Sisters (SSpS). From our humble beginnings as a high school in 1968 and later a tertiary institution in 1979, DWU proudly became a university in 1996, opening a new chapter in higher education for Papua New Guinea and the region.
For over three decades since then, we have been committed to forming minds, building character, and serving society through quality teaching, research, and community engagement. Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to celebrate 30 years as a university—30 years of impact, growth, and transformation! The countdown has begun, and the future is bright.

APPRECIATION POST
The DWU Alumni Association - Lae Chapter appreciates and thanks the Star Mountain Paper Corporation Ltd (SMPC) for your support and donation of 250 garbage bags and 500 pair of latex gloves towards the Rosso Lae Community Clean-a-thon which were used on Saturday, 22nd November. Special thanks to John Wamine, SMPC Group Financial Controller, Mathias Igode and the SMPC Team.

The Divine Word University Alumni Association - Lae Chapter is proud to participate in the Rosso Lae Community Clean-a-thon today as part of its community engagement initiative. We acknowledge the Lae City Authority for organizing this cleanathon with a special acknowledgment to the Star Mountain Paper Company for donating garbage bags and gloves towards this cause. Also, a big shout out to all alumni members and families who showed up this morning for the cleanathon. 💪🏽💛💚
