About the Asia Pacific Economic Research Foundation

The Asia Pacific Economic Research Foundation (APERF) is a think tank dedicated to addressing development challenges in the Asia-Pacific region. We facilitate discussions and debates on critical economic issues, aiming to influence policies that shape the region’s development trajectory. Our primary platform for engaging stakeholders is through Facebook, where we foster dialogue among professionals from diverse fields.

Our Network and Expertise

The foundation leverages the technical expertise of a vast network of professionals engaged in development work across Asia and the Pacific. Our members include economists, business managers, market strategists, financial experts, accountants, public reform specialists, lawyers, journalists, psychologists, consultants, academics, engineers, environmental scientists, climate change experts, public health professionals, clinicians, philosophers, theologians, and pastors. Our goal is to foster knowledge-sharing and engage in discussions about the key issues affecting development in the Asia-Pacific region. Members are encouraged to contribute by sharing media articles, donor reports, policies, development blogs, and publicly available statistics on human development outcomes in the region.

Our Services

To support our core objectives of economic growth and sustain operational costs, we offer a variety of services:

Telecommunications Resale:

We are a registered reseller of Telikom Rait Cards, BMobile, and Digicel Flex Cards. A US$1 fee applies to transactions under US$5, and a US$2 fee applies to purchases over US$20.

SME Investment Connections:

We connect Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the Bank of Papua New Guinea for investment opportunities. Professional fees of up to US$100 apply, with additional communication and transport costs of up to US$100.

Grant Application Facilitation:

We assist with development grant applications from diplomatic missions and donor agencies. A service fee of US$200 is charged for application facilitation, with an additional fee of US$100 per day for drafting proposals and concept notes.

Job Search Assistance:

We provide job search services for individuals seeking employment in Papua New Guinea (US$200) or abroad (US$300). This service is valid for 12 months.

Scholarship Search:

We assist candidates with finding scholarship opportunities in economics, public policy, law, and business management. A service fee of US$200 applies, with the search valid for 12 months.

Visa & Passport Services:

We assist with foreign visa and PNG passport applications, as well as travel and hotel bookings. A service fee of US$200 applies per client.

Business Registration:

For clients in Papua New Guinea, we offer assistance with formal SME registration with the Investment Promotion Authority and obtaining tax registration numbers from the Internal Revenue Commission. A service fee of US$200 applies.

Real Estate Search:

We assist clients in finding residential properties for lease or sale through local real estate businesses. A service fee of US$200 applies per client.

Grocery Shopping for Busy Clients:

We offer grocery shopping services for busy professionals, with pick-up points at various locations in Port Moresby. A service fee of US$20 applies.

We are a foundation for economic research focused on issues affecting development in Asia and the Pacific. The Asia Pacific Economic Research Foundation uses Facebook as a digital platform for development discussions and debate to influence economic policies implemented in the region.

The Asia Pacific Economic Research Foundation utilizes technical expertise from a network of professionals involved in development work in the region. The foundation is made up of Economists, Business Managers, Market Stategists, Financial Experts, Accountants, Public Reform Experts, Lawyers, Legislators, Journalists, Psycologists, Consultants, Academics, Engineers, Environmental Scientists, Climate Change Experts, Public Health Specialists, Scientists, Clinicians, Philosophers, Theologians and Pastors. The aim of the foundation is to share knowledge and expertise by engaging in discussions on issues affecting development in Asia and the Pacific.

Research work compiled by the foundation is based on fiscal and monetary policy data from Government Treasuries, Central Banks, Monetary Authorities, United Nations, World Bank, Asian Development Bank , the Australian National University and the University of Papua New Guinea. Key areas for research include financial markets, rural agriculture development, social services, law and justice, public administration, climate change, pandemics, energy transition and Extractive Industry Transparency Initiatives (EITI).

To meet core objectives for economic growth, the following services are offered to meet operational costs for the foundation:

(a) We are a registered reseller of Telikom Rait Cards, BMobile and Digicel Flex Cards. Specific Fees apply to cover for transaction and labour costs. A fee of US$ 1 applies to all purchases below US$ 5 and a fee of US$ 2 for every purchase above U$ 20.

(b) We connect Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to invest with the Bank of Papua New Guinea. Professional fees up to US$ 100 apply for this service. Communication and transports costs are charged up to US$ 100 covering the cost of meetings and facilitating investments with the Bank of Papua New Guinea.

(c) Facilitating development grant applications for project funding offered by diplomatic missions and donor agencies in the region. A service fee of US$200 is charged to facilitate the application process. And an additional fee of US$100 per day is charged to draft proposals and concept notes for the funding agency.

(d) Searching the labour market in the region for job seekers. Our fee is US$ 200 for job searches within Papua New Guinea if you have a smart phone and have access to internet. Additional fee of US $300 is charged for a job search outside of Papua New Guinea. The Job Search covers a period of 12 months only.

(e) Searching for scholarship programs for candidates with good academic skills. Our area of expertise are in economics, public policy, law and business management. A service fee of U$ 200 is charged per client. The scholarship search covers a period of 12 months only .

(f) Assisting with foreign visa and PNG passport application processes, travel and hotel reservations for citizens and foreigners wanting to travel. We use existing marketing sections of main airlines, and appropriate sections within embassies and consulates operating in the country. A service fee of U$200 is charged per client.

(g) For clients in Papua New Guinea we offer services to help SMEs formally register with the Investment Promotion Authority and obtainTax registration numbers from the Internal Revenue Commission . A service fee of US$ 200 is charged per client.

(h) Using existing real estate businesses to search for residential housing on lease or for sale. This service is available to specific clients only. A service fee of US$ 200 is charged per client.

(i) For busy working-class clients, we partner with existing businesses to do grocery shopping for a fee of US$ 20. Pick up points are Waterfront, Harborside Stop and Shop, Vision City Mega Mall, RH Hyper Super Market, Brian Bell Home City Centre and Range View Shopping Mall.

(g) We order cakes for all occasions from hotels or exsisting SMEs for a fee of US $20.
