SmartBiz Pacific was privileged to participate in SME Week at APEC Haus, joining a diverse group of predominantly SMEs from Alotau, as well as parts of Central and Gulf Provinces.

Our Managing Partner, Felix Gabriel, had the honour of joining Collin Kopyoto, Managing Director of Ultimax Security Services, on the panel to discuss the successes of SMEs, key compliance matters, the challenges facing the sector, and the opportunities that lie ahead for businesses in Papua New Guinea.

The discussion highlighted the importance of sound governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic business management in enabling SMEs to grow sustainably and contribute meaningfully to the nation's economy.

SmartBiz Pacific Principal, Felix Gabriel, CPA, MBA, was privileged to be a speaker at the Inaugural Pacific International Conference, held at APEC Haus on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.

The conference carried the theme “One Pacific, One Profession – Strengthening Internal Audit for Regional Impact” as we mark PNG’s 50th anniversary of Independence and dedicate our efforts to advancing the internal audit profession across the Pacific region.

In recognition of his expertise as Founder and Principal of SmartBiz Pacific Ltd in Papua New Guinea, Mr Gabriel delivered an individual presentation on his experience working with small and medium enterprises – auditing their books, strengthening their financial systems and providing professional advisory services to everyday Papua New Guinean business owners.

He also took part in a panel discussion, sharing the stage with Sir Mahesh Patel to discuss, from the perspective of PNG business founders, the current economic climate, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing everyday Papua New Guineans.
