PUBLIC NOTICE: PROSECUTION OF TAXPAYERS WHO ARE COMMITTING TAXATION FRAUD

The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) has found taxpayers committing fraud by falsely claiming GST refunds, diverting over K12.9 million meant for the welfare of Papua New Guineans.

Fraud is unacceptable to the IRC. Those involved face severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to four years.

Legal action will target not only fraudulent taxpayers but also accomplices of those submitting false GST refunds/credits.

Engaging in such schemes is a criminal offense. The IRC will collaborate with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary to ensure justice.
