What an amazing week on missions.

It was a great opportunity to have Kalafi share with the DTS a couple days teaching how to go into missions in the spheres! As an entire campus, we celebrated the life of Kuriva on Wednesday - an amazing women who had a passion to see young people rise up and serve Jesus. Everyone did their part and it was a wonderful day of grief and joy.

It was great getting feedback from almost the entire class about what God was highlighting to them this week in lectures. So exciting as we head into our final week before outreach!

WHAT A WEEK IT HAS BEEN!

One of students had the opportunity to share her testimony about what God has done in her life on DTS in a church service Sunday morning. It was amazing!

For the first time on DTS the campus held not one, but TWO MAJOR EVENTS back to back. Whew! First we had the welcoming of the Dental Trailer followed by a very special mumu. The preparation that went into this week was a lot and everyone played their part and helped out. They were both a great success!

We were privileged as a DTS to have no other than the infamous Dean Sherman share with us on the topic Spiritual Warfare this week. So many myths and legends were broken as practical and biblical understanding was taught over the 5 days. Application time ended on a high as we continue to get ready for outreach next month!

The YWAM Townsville campus director Ken Mulligan was the guest speaker for the week on the topic of ‘Making Every Effort’.

It was an intense week as the lectures gave the students a lot to think about regarding their personal relationships with God and how to be intentional. But it built on everything that had been taught over the last 8 weeks of DTS.

A wonderful moment in the history of the campus happened as we welcomed the dental trailer from YWAM Townsville to the Jetty. It was truly a moment of celebration after waiting 2 years for it to come to Papua New Guinea. It was amazing to have a guest from the Papua New Guinea government come in and speak to the DTS too.

A surprise start to the week was when a group of students and a staff went to a Gereka to attend a church service, but ended up leading the service instead. By the grace of God it was a success!

None other than our own school leader, Taffie Tamba taught the DTS on the first 3 days on the topic of ‘Identity’. We also had our base leaders from our headquarters campus, YWAM Townsville, Ken and Robyn Mulligan join us from Australia on family night after to see all that has been happening at the Jetty.

We then had a visitor from outside YWAM, Pastor Joseph Walters come in person to the campus to speak on the Holy Spirit for two days.

It was a powerful encounter with God for the students and sending the ship off to outreach in Western province ended the week on a high.

Week 6 of the school began and we finally moved to the Jetty! It was an early start to the day for a Sunday but everyone was excited to live on the campus.

Again, we had two speakers in one week. Shirley Brownhill our first guest speaker spoke on the topic “Intimacy with God’ for the first three days. We then had our own campus leaders Matt and Anna Scott dive even deeper into the topic of relationships and also the effects of po*******hy. It was truly an eye opening time in lectures.

The campus staff school seminars team hosted us for one evening in the week to take us through their programme for secondary schools. It was a great night!

With the arrival of our last student we were finally able to take our school photo up on the sun deck of the ship. It took some work, but we made it happen!

The student’s first book reports were also handed in over the weekend! Each student was handed a copy of the book ‘Is That Really You God?” written by the founder of YWAM himself; Loren Cunningham.

Our guest speaker for the week was a wonderful pioneer who gave some amazing teaching on what it means to walk in the ‘Fear in the Lord’. It truly was a turnaround moment in the school when it became apparent we are not to be scared of God but to be in awe of who He is! Friday was a great day as he briefly taught on relationships with the opposite s*x and the importance of boundaries too.

DTS outreach teams were announced! The students did not suspect it at all!

It was our first time having two speakers in a week for week 4 for DTS.

David Cole spent the first 3 days teaching on the ‘Father Heart of God’. With Friday also being the deadline for the K4,000 of DTS course fees, we then had Fono Fepuleai speak on ‘Faith in Finances’ Thursday and Friday.

We finally had our last intention student Layne join us finally from the United States after being delayed for 3 weeks! What a special moment see her arrive on the ship with the rest of the school!

We also had our first ‘working bee’ at the Jetty over the weekend so we could prepare the DTS dorm rooms to move in!

This week’s speaker Pete Brownhill taught on two topics; ‘Hearing God’s Voice’ and ‘Sin and Repentance’.

This week ended with some important ‘application time’ all day Friday where students were split into two groups to able to take the time to respond to the week’s teaching and let God make a difference in their lives.

The weekend was eventful as it was the first time the DTS had a chance to leave the ship and return to the Jetty for some sports! It was truly refreshing to be on the ground again for an afternoon.
