And then did literally nothing for the province. All good talks. Even the central province border facility at Bautama was incomplete which now central provincial government completed it. What else will he do?

One good thing we learned from the former Governor of Central Province, Hon. Robert Agarobe, is honesty and transparency.

He did not use money to lure votes. He did not manipulate or hijack the electoral system. He won the seat in 2017 through a clean process and ended his term with a clean process in 2022.

After paying his nomination fees for the 2022 National General Election, he printed his posters and went to Australia to spend quality time with his family. Whether he or someone else won, he simply waited for the counting until Hon. Ruffina Peter, the current Governor, was declared.

He was the first person to congratulate Hon. Ruffina Peter on her victory through his personal Facebook account because he was in Australia at the time. He said, "The people have spoken through the ballot papers. That is the result I wanted, and the result the people of the great Central Province wanted."

All our current MPs must learn from and follow the example of a leader with good character. PNG is in desperate need of such leaders. We do not need power-hungry leaders to lead us for the next 50 years.

Besides, every citizen must take the coming election seriously for the good of the nation as a whole. If we fail this time, we will fail our future. We, the people, must first Take Back PNG before we expect our leaders to do so.

If we don’t, then who shall we blame? Let’s not play the blame game or run after every politician like it’s raining money in 2027.

Australian Senator David Pocock paused mid speech, visibly moved, as he relayed the findings of a UN report on the C0NFLlCT in Gazaaa. The numbers were stark. the lDF has now kiIIed 20,000 PAL£STlNlAN chiIdren. This isn't about politics anymore. It's about whether we still believe in basic humanity. If we can't condemn the deliberate kiIIing of chiIdren, what's left?We are better than this. Or at least, we should be.

What is shared here is an important culture that majority of us are failing miserably on a daily basis.

This wisdom is in itself worth millions of kina.

We can do small SME, work for our salaries but without this savings culture, we will never progress. This article in itself is financial literacy all in one.

HAVING A K100 NOTE IN YOUR POCKET BUT YOU EAT A K1 PACKET OF BISCUIT FOR LUNCH IS FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE

It’s not about how much money you have in your pocket, but how you choose to use it. Carrying K100 yet spending only K1 on biscuits shows restraint, prioritization, and the ability to delay gratification.

Think of it this way:

Self-control: You resist the urge to splurge just because you can.

Budgeting mindset: You allocate resources wisely, even if the amount seems small.

Long-term focus: You’re thinking beyond lunch — maybe saving for something bigger or more meaningful.

Value recognition: You understand that satisfaction doesn’t always require high spending.

It’s a powerful reminder that discipline isn’t measured by the size of your wallet but by the choices you make with it. Some of the wealthiest people in history were known for their frugality — they understood that consistent small acts of restraint build lasting financial strength.

Let’s turn that biscuit example into a set of practical habits you can apply every day. Financial discipline is really about consistency in small choices that add up over time. Here are some powerful habits:

Daily Spending Discipline
Track expenses: Write down every purchase, even small ones, to stay aware of where money goes.

Set a daily budget: Decide how much you’ll spend each day and stick to it.

Avoid impulse buys: Pause before spending — ask if it’s a need or just a want.

Saving Strategies
Pay yourself first: Move a portion of income into savings before spending anything else.

Automate savings: Use bank features to transfer money automatically into a savings account.

Emergency fund: Build a cushion of 3–6 months’ expenses to reduce stress and reliance on debt.

Minimalist Living
Declutter spending: Cut out subscriptions or purchases that don’t add real value.

Value experiences: Spend on memories and growth rather than accumulating stuff.

Mindful consumption: Buy fewer, higher-quality items instead of many cheap ones.

These habits are like muscles — the more you practice them, the stronger your financial discipline becomes. Even small acts, like choosing a K1 biscuit instead of a K10 lunch, reinforce the mindset of control and intentionality.

Daily Routine- Financial Discipline
Here’s a structured daily routine for financial discipline that builds toward long-term wealth. Think of it as training your “money muscle” every day:

Morning Routine
Review budget: Start the day by checking your planned spending limit.

Set spending intention: Decide what you must spend on today (transport, food) and what you’ll avoid.

Visualize savings goal: Remind yourself of the bigger picture — whether it’s a house, education, or investment.

Midday Habits
Pack lunch: Simple meals save money and reinforce discipline.

Track small purchases: Write down even minor expenses like biscuits or coffee.

Pause before buying: Ask: “Do I need this, or do I just want it?”

Evening Routine
Daily expense review: Compare actual spending with your budget.

Transfer savings: Move leftover money into savings immediately.

Reflect on discipline: Note one good decision you made today that supported your financial goals.

Long-Term Wealth Building
Invest regularly: Even small amounts grow over time through compound interest.

Build multiple income streams: Side hustles, passive income, or skill monetization.

Avoid lifestyle inflation: Don’t increase spending just because income rises.

Review financial goals: Every month, check progress and adjust strategies.

This routine blends daily discipline with long-term vision. The K1 biscuit choice is a perfect metaphor — small sacrifices today create freedom tomorrow.
