📢General Toksawe📢 Drought ALERT (High Risk)⚠️

Highlands: Jiwaka, Chimbu, Enga, Hela, Southern & Western Highlands.

Southern: Gulf, Western Province, and NCD.

🚨 DROUGHT UPDATE: APRIL 2026 🚨

The PNG National Weather Service has issued the latest Drought Early Warning Status. While some areas saw recent rain from cyclones, many provinces are now entering Drought Alert status.

📍 Provinces on Drought ALERT (High Risk):

Highlands: Jiwaka, Chimbu, Enga, Hela, Southern & Western Highlands.

Southern: Gulf, Western Province, and NCD.

📍 Provinces on Drought WATCH (Monitor Closely):

Central, Eastern Highlands, Morobe, ENB, WNB, New Ireland, and Manus.

📉 What’s happening? Neutral ENSO conditions are currently present, but models indicate a possible El Niño developing later this year. Drier-than-normal conditions are expected for most of PNG through July.

💧 What should you do? * Conserve water now.

Monitor food gardens and livestock.

The Adjusted Fuel Prices for Port Moresby which took effect as yet 12am today.

⚠️Offset Mechanism:

✅️GST Forgone
✅️Direct subsidy reset prices to 0% increase.
