Invitation for Bids

The iTVET4E Project, through DHERST, invites eligible bidders to submit bids for infrastructure works at four Batch 1 TVET colleges:
1. Mt. Hagen Technical College
2. Highlands Agriculture College
3. Don Bosco Simbu Technical College
4. Goroka Technical College

The works will support improved training facilities, workshops, laboratories, student accommodation and other essential infrastructure.

Kiunga Site Visit: A Lesson in Project Delivery in PNG

Our team’s recent trip to Kiunga highlighted a reality many project managers rarely encounter in Papua New Guinea, reaching the site can be as challenging as the work itself.

After travelling via Tabubil due to the temporary closure of Kiunga Airport, the team completed their site activities as planned. However, their return journey became a lesson. Multiple flight cancellations, airline disruptions, and operational challenges left the team stranded for days, with the possibility of waiting another week for transport out of the region. Even after securing seats on a special flight, a last-minute aircraft issue delayed departure once again.

Delivering projects in PNG requires more than good project management. Success depends on understanding local realities, building flexibility into plans, and being prepared for unexpected logistical challenges. In remote locations, adaptability and local knowledge are often just as important as schedules and budgets.
