As much as I miss teaching calligraphy and watercolor workshops, these past few months I've found myself preferring curated art sessions, not only to introduce people to an activity, but also to create a space where they can make new friends.
There were times when, because the workshops were highly technical and output-driven (hello, 55-degree letter slants, watercolor blooms, and drags 😅), some participants would get a little discouraged. Which is completely normal, tbh. But as a facilitator, I want people to have fun and fall in love with the process rather than compare their work to others and become overly self-critical.
That's when I started conceptualizing the Analog Table: activities that are more process-driven, where the outcome isn't predetermined.
I would love to schedule another calligraphy or watercolor workshop soon, but I still have SO many ideas for the Analog Table. 😂
