TERMITE MOUND: WHAT IT IS & WHY IT MATTERS

Have you seen a termite mound near your home, farm, or property?
It may look harmless—but it tells an important story.

🏠 What is a Termite Mound?

A termite mound is a nest built by termites using soil, saliva, and organic matter.
It can house thousands to millions of termites and contains tunnels and chambers that help them survive and multiply.

Effects on the Environment

✔ Improves soil quality by mixing nutrients
✔ Helps soil absorb water and air
✔ Supports plant growth in natural ecosystems

Because of this, termites are often called “ecosystem engineers.”

Effects on Animals & Human Areas

🟢 In nature:
• Provides shelter for birds, reptiles, and small animals
• Serves as a food source for wildlife

🔴 Near homes and farms:
• Indicates an active termite colony nearby
• Can lead to hidden damage in wooden structures
• Weakens soil near foundations
• May attract other pests and predators

Why You Should NOT Ignore a Termite Mound

If a termite mound is near your house or building, it means:
⚠️ Termites may already be underground
⚠️ Structural damage can happen without visible signs
⚠️ Disturbing the mound without treatment can spread the infestation

DIY removal is not recommended.

Professional Tip from QualPest Control Solutions

Termite mounds near residential or commercial areas should be:
✔ Properly inspected
✔ Treated at the source
✔ Followed by soil poisoning or termite proofing

This helps prevent termites from migrating into your home.

🟠 DID YOU KNOW?
Cockroaches are one of the biggest triggers of allergies and asthma inside homes!

Many people think cockroaches are just dirty pests…
But what most don’t know is that their droppings, shed skin, saliva, and even body parts can become airborne and cause serious allergic reactions.

Common Symptoms of Cockroach Allergies:
• Sneezing
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Itchy, watery eyes
• Skin rashes
• Persistent cough
• Worsening asthma attacks

Cockroach allergens stay in the air and cling to fabrics, beds, sofas, and carpets—making them especially dangerous for kids and people with asthma.

🛡️ How to Reduce Allergen Exposure:
✔ Keep food sealed and kitchen clean
✔ Dispose garbage daily
✔ Fix water leaks (cockroaches love moisture!)
✔ Clean dark, hidden areas where they hide
✔ Schedule regular pest control services

Don’t wait for allergies to worsen.
A clean home is a healthy home — and we’re here to help keep it pest-free.

LEPTOSPIROSIS ALERT!
Stay safe during rainy season!

Leptospirosis is a serious disease caused by bacteria found in rat urine, usually spread through floodwater. Even a small wound or cut on your skin can let the bacteria enter your body.

👉 Common Symptoms:
• High fever
• Headache
• Muscle pain
• Red eyes
• Chills
• Vomiting

Seek medical help immediately if symptoms appear—early treatment can save lives.

How to Protect Yourself:
Avoid walking in floodwater
Always wear boots if you must pass through flooded areas
Keep surroundings clean
Dispose of garbage properly
Control rat population around your home or business

Remember: Prevention starts at home — and pest control plays a huge role in keeping your family safe.
