[𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄] 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The SLU Human Resource Department warmly welcomed 70 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026-2027 through a face-to-face orientation seminar. This activity, held on 𝟐𝟒 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (Thursday) at 𝗖𝟎𝟏𝟑, 𝗙𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, is aimed to help new faculty members be familiar with the procedures and guidelines of Saint Louis University. Prior to the face-to-face orientation, they were invited to participate in an asynchronous orientation through Google Classroom, which provided an outline of the University’s history, organizational structure, and other employment-related matters.

To jumpstart the program, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏. 𝐄𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞, Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave her welcome remarks and discussed the SLU Vision-Mission and its Strategic Directions. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐂. 𝐆𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐳, Executive Assistant to the President, highlighted the University's mission and identity as a CICM institution. Furthermore, 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐚, Head of University Outreach Programs Office, presented the programs and activities of the Mission and Identity Cluster and the Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Parish through which they could participate in community and faith-based activities.

The terms and conditions of employment were then explained by HRD representatives. 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐲𝐥 𝐀. 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐳𝐚, Database Administrator of the Information Systems and Technology Services Department, demonstrated how to access and navigate the Faculty Portal. 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏. 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services, underscored the faculty’s role in monitoring student attendance, maintaining discipline, and addressing other student-related concerns.

To cap the activity, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐃. 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐚, Graduate Program Coordinator of Teacher Education Program of the School of Advanced Studies, shared her expertise on Teaching Resources: Strategies and Ethics to guide them in their responsibilities and help them transition smoothly into their roles.

This activity highlighted the shared responsibility of the faculty in advancing the University’s mission of providing quality education and forming individuals who are competent, compassionate, innovative, and imbued with Christian Spirit. This aligns with SLU’s commitment to contribute to the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝟒 (𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧).

The Saint Louis University (SLU) Human Resource Department (HRD) conducted a learning session on “𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞, 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐗), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” on 26 June 2026, held in two batches, at the Fr. Theophile Verbist Hall, SLU Sacred Heart Medical Center–Medical Arts Building. The session aimed to strengthen the competencies of 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 across the University, including the Sacred Heart Medical Center, enabling them to deliver meaningful interactions and memorable stakeholder experiences.

On behalf of the Vice President for Administration, 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐘𝐳𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐏. 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝, HRD Director 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐋. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳 delivered the opening remarks. Atty. Merced's message emphasized that customer satisfaction is shaped not only by the quality of service provided but also by the soft skills and attitudes demonstrated by employees. The message also highlighted the importance of workplace etiquette in fostering respect, collaboration, and professionalism, noting that these values strengthen the University's culture and support its commitment to 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰 𝘦𝘵 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢.

The resource speaker, School of Accountancy, Management, Computing and Information Studies (SAMCIS) Dean 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐈. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐞ñ𝐚, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, underscored the importance of treating every stakeholder with fairness, respect, and empathy. She highlighted that exceptional stakeholder experiences are built on six key elements of service excellence: service quality, communication, empathy, convenience, trust, and consistency. Through practical and relatable scenarios, she demonstrated how these principles can be applied in everyday workplace interactions, fostering a service culture that creates lasting and meaningful impressions.

In her closing message, Assistant HRD Director 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐆. 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞, reaffirmed the importance of delivering equitable, respectful, and people-centered service. She encouraged participants to apply the insights gained from the session in their daily interactions, emphasizing that every encounter—whether in academic, administrative, or healthcare settings—contributes to a positive stakeholder experience and reflects the institution’s commitment to service excellence.

As emphasized throughout the learning session, the guiding principles of service excellence are, “𝘛𝘢𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰, 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘴𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘰, 𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘯.” (“𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵. On 25 June 2026, the Human Resource Department conducted a learning session on 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 for section/unit heads, supervisors, and senior employees of the University, including the Sacred Heart Medical Center. The activity aimed to strengthen participants' understanding of the role of leadership in fostering employee well-being and organizational excellence.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐆. 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞, Assistant HRD Director, welcomed the participants and emphasized that employee engagement requires intentional leadership and a shared commitment to creating meaningful workplace experiences.

The session, facilitated by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐃. 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨, highlighted employee engagement as the emotional commitment employees have toward their work, team, and organization. In his synthesis and closing remarks, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐋. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, HR Director, reminded participants that “𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦” and that “𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘴, 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱.”

The activity reaffirmed the importance of people-centered leadership in cultivating an engaged and thriving workforce, in support of 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 (𝐒𝐃𝐆) 𝟏𝟔: 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

Work will resume on Monday, 06 April 2026. Have a meaningful, peaceful, and restorative break.

As announced in Administrative Memo No. 11, series of 2026, 𝟯𝟬 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝘁𝗼 𝟬𝟰 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 the Academic and Holy Week Break for the Louisian community. Furthermore, the SLU administration declared that classes in all levels shall be asynchronous on 28 March 2026.

With this in mind, all Louisians are encouraged to embrace this period as a time for rest, reflection, and renewal, especially amid global conflict and economic challenges. May we also use this opportunity to deepen our faith through solemn prayer and religious practices.

For guidance, classes and work will resume on Monday, 06 April 2026. We hope that all Louisians will return refreshed and revitalized.
