Check out the pitch video from one of our business incubatees, Mr. Renz Villar of Loco Bites, at the Adal ken Sirmata Mentoring Program 2025 Competition.

Renz pitched Empanuri, a revolutionary twist on the traditional Ilocano empanada. Think: the rich, savory filling you crave, perfectly packed into a crisp, convenient, pani-puri style bite. Less mess, maximum flavor!

Empanuri is proof that even beloved classics can be reimagined for a new market. We celebrate Renz for his creativity and his commitment to innovation.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | MMSU TBI Attends PHWF Closing, Introduces Tech to DOST-PTRI Head

The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Technology Business Incubator (TBI) successfully concluded its participation in the first Philippine Handloom Weaving Festival at Robinsons Mall Ilocos Norte on November 22, 2025.

The event, which ran from November 19-22, 2025 was a key component of the National Science and Technology Week spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with the theme, “Telang Pinoy sa Paghabi ng Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas.”

The festival effectively showcased the rich beauty of handloom weaved textiles from various regions through comprehensive displays, exhibits, and a four-day bazaar. MMSU TBI Incubatees, Ilocandia Unli Weave Patterns, ADDS Bambutek, and Padalan Workshop participated in the bazaar with Leonila Loomweaving Manufacturing, the exclusive loomweaving manufacturer of Ilocandia Unli Weave Patterns and a partner receiving assistance from the MMSU TBI.

Following the closing event, the MMSU TBI team had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Julius Leaño, Jr, the Director of DOST - Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) to introduce the existing technologies being incubated at MMSU TBI that can elevate the industry of handloom weaving in the region and the country on a larger scale. Dr. Leaño subsequently shared plans to incorporate weaving technologies into the next Philippine Handloom Weaving Festival, scheduled to take place next year in General Santos City.

The MMSU TBI remains committed to supporting the province's rich textile industry, with a strategic focus on incubating more technologies within its creative manufacturing banner program.
