How to Troubleshoot! 😊

If you are experiencing intermittent speeds or frequent disconnections, follow these basic troubleshooting steps:

❇️1. Verify your account status: Ensure your monthly bill is paid and up to date, as unpaid accounts may be automatically suspended or throttled.

❇️2. Power cycle your modem:
Unplug the modem's power cord from the outlet.
Wait 30 seconds.

❇️Plug the power cord back in and allow 2 to 3 minutes for all status lights to stabilize.

Restarting the device clears the modem's internal memory and establishes a fresh connection to the network, which resolves most common connection issues.

Why the Difference Exists 💡

❇️2.4 GHz (Longer Wavelength):
Physics: Lower frequency means longer waves. Longer waves are physically better at diffracting around obstacles and passing through solid materials like walls, floors, and furniture.

😳Trade-off: Because it is a lower frequency, it has a smaller "channel capacity," meaning it cannot carry as much data at once, leading to slower maximum speeds. It is also highly congested because many common devices (microwaves, Bluetooth, baby monitors) use this same spectrum.

❇️5 GHz (Shorter Wavelength):
Physics: Higher frequency means shorter waves. These shorter waves are easily absorbed or reflected by solid objects, which is why the signal drops off significantly when you move behind a wall or far from the router.

😊Benefit: The higher frequency allows for much wider channels and higher data throughput, providing the high speeds needed for gaming and 4K streaming. Because it has more available channels, it is also less susceptible to interference from crowded neighborhoods.
