🚨 BDO CREDIT CARD HOLDERS, BASAHIN NIYO ’TO. Baka kayo na ang sunod na tawagan.
Natutulog ako kanina dahil galing akong night shift, then biglang may tumawag.
Caller: “May I speak with (my complete name)? Me: “This is she.”
Then she started explaining na mandatory daw from BSP na palitan ang card ko at tinanong kung available ako dahil ipapadala raw ang new card on Tuesday.
Doon na ako nagtaka.
Sabi ko, “Anong card po ito?”
Sagot niya: “Credit card.”
Suspicious na ako, so sinabi ko:
“To be safe, I will talk to my bank directly about this.”
Ang sagot niya lang: “Okay, thank you. Bye.” Then hang up agad. 😳
Buti na lang last night, may nabasa akong post from a fellow VA content creator na marami raw nakaka-experience ng suspicious calls from people claiming to be BDO representatives. Kaya hindi ako nagbigay ng kahit anong information.
I checked online after the call and learned that this type of scam is called VISHING — or “voice phishing.” 📞
Basically, phishing siya through a phone call. Scammers pretend to be from your bank or another trusted institution para makuha ang card details, OTP, CVV, password, or other personal information.
Binlock ko agad yung number, but I took a screenshot first for awareness.
⚠️ Reminder: Kahit alam nila ang FULL NAME mo, hindi ibig sabihin legit sila.
Never give your:
• OTP
• CVV
• Card number
• Expiry date
• Online banking password
If may tumawag claiming to be from your bank and may duda ka, hang up and call your bank yourself using their official number.
Hindi ko masasabi na compromised ang BDO data based on this call alone, pero nakakatakot pa rin na alam nila ang pangalan ko at bank na ginagamit ko. So please be extra careful.
