Team Outsource is hiring an experienced Estimator on behalf of a U.S.-based construction company.

We’re looking for someone with strong U.S. construction estimating experience who can take projects from initial review through bid submission, including quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor coordination, proposal preparation, and post-award support.

🏗️ WHAT YOU’LL DO
➙ Prepare estimates for renovation, multifamily, commercial & CapEx projects
➙ Review drawings, photos, videos, walkthroughs & project scopes
➙ Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials & equipment
➙ Identify scope gaps, risks, missing information & constructability concerns
➙ Develop labor, material, equipment & subcontractor pricing
➙ Research and validate costs using vendors, subcontractors, market data & historical projects
➙ Solicit, compare & level subcontractor/vendor quotes
➙ Prepare detailed scopes of work and client-ready proposals
➙ Document assumptions, exclusions, clarifications & qualifications
➙ Support value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
➙ Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams
➙ Support change-order pricing, procurement & budget updates
➙ Review actual project costs against estimating assumptions
➙ Maintain accurate and organized estimating records
➙ Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously

🔎 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
➙ 3+ years of construction estimating experience
➙ 3+ years preparing estimates for U.S.-based construction projects
➙ Experience with renovation, multifamily, commercial, maintenance or CapEx projects
➙ Strong understanding of U.S. construction methods, materials & labor costs
➙ Experience with subcontractor pricing, bid leveling & vendor coordination
➙ Proficiency in Bluebeam, PlanSwift, STACK or similar takeoff software
➙ Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications & project documents
➙ Strong analytical, organizational & problem-solving skills
➙ Excellent communication and time-management skills
➙ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
➙ Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

⭐ PREFERRED
➙ Multifamily renovation and CapEx experience
➙ Experience with subcontractor procurement and bid leveling
➙ Familiarity with construction/project management software
➙ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field, or equivalent industry experience

$375/month for an Appointment Setter. Makatarungan ba?

My answer? For an experienced, full-time Appointment Setter, NO.

But here’s the plot twist…

As an agency, we also once offered a lower starting rate. 😅

Before you come for me, hear me out. 😂

I started as a VA before becoming an agency owner, so I’ve sat on BOTH sides of this conversation. And our experience running a pilot program actually taught me why salary posts like this aren’t always as black and white as they look.

A few months ago, we created a pilot program specifically for people with zero VA experience, mostly applicants coming from the BPO industry who wanted a chance to transition into remote work.

We started them at ₱25,000/month.

But there was one very important condition:

That was never meant to be their permanent rate.

We trained them, gave them actual experience, and established clear KPIs. Once they demonstrated that they could consistently hit those KPIs, they graduated from the program and moved to our actual BDR/Appointment Setter compensation.

And guess what?

We retained two BDRs from that pilot program. ❤️

Today, they’re earning ₱50K+ per month PLUS incentives in USD.

They can earn an additional $20 for every qualified meeting, plus bonuses when we close a client they helped generate.

So yes, the pilot worked.

But it also taught us A LOT.

Not everyone who wants to become an Appointment Setter will actually enjoy or succeed in the role.

You need communication skills. Confidence. Persistence. The ability to handle rejection.

And honestly… lakas ng loob ang need ani nga trabaho. 😂

Some realized the role wasn’t for them, and that’s completely okay.

We also realized something from the employer side.

You can give someone training, tools, opportunities, and support, but not everyone will develop into the person you need for that particular role.

At the same time, people have bills. People have families. People have needs.

You can’t expect experienced-level performance while keeping someone at a beginner or training rate indefinitely.

So going back to the original question:

Is $375/month makatarungan?

If that’s the permanent salary for an experienced, full-time Appointment Setter expected to consistently hit KPIs?

For me, no.

But I’m also not going to attack the company based on one screenshot.

We don’t know the entire story.

Maybe it’s part-time.
Maybe there’s a commission structure.
Maybe they’re accepting complete beginners.
Maybe there’s a clear salary progression.
Maybe it’s a startup with a limited budget.

Or yes, maybe it really is simply an underpaid position.

We don’t know.

And that’s why I don’t want to automatically pick a side.

Being an agency owner has taught me about everything happening behind the salary that people don’t necessarily see.

Recruitment. Training. Management. Employee support. Software. Tools. Operations. Taxes. And yes, the company also needs to make money to survive.

But being a former VA will always remind me about the person on the other side.

There’s a human being behind that salary.

Someone paying bills.

Someone supporting their parents or children.

Someone trying to save.

Someone hoping remote work can give their family a better life.

That’s why I don’t think this conversation needs to be:

Pro-VA vs. Pro-Agency.

Or:

Employee vs. Employer.

Both realities can exist at the same time.

Businesses need sustainable numbers. People deserve fair compensation.

And here’s probably my biggest takeaway from our own experiment:

If you’re going to give beginners a chance and start them at a lower rate while they learn, give them a clear path to graduate from that rate.

Tell them what they need to accomplish.

Give them measurable KPIs.

Train them.

Support them.

And when they’ve proven their value, their compensation should have room to grow with them.

Because there’s a big difference between:

“This is where we’re giving you an opportunity to start.”

and

“This is where we’re expecting you to stay.”

Starting somewhere is okay.

Growing should always be part of the conversation too. ❤️

Yes, I don’t struggle with sleep naman. I just can’t adjust my schedule, even on weekends, because my body is already used to sleeping in the morning.

I’ve been a night owl since 2010, so fixed na talaga ang body clock ko. 😅 Kaya my family adjusts to my schedule so we can still spend quality time together. 🙂
