Training Roll-out for the MANP Barangays
The German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) Promotion of The Rule Law in Mindanao (ROLMIN) Project has concluded the roll-out training for the members of local complaint bodies on just and responsible handling of complaints and resolution local disputes related to Land for the select eight select barangays, and Indigenous Political Structures/Ancestral Domain Management Office (IPS/ADMO), along the Mt. Apo Natural Park in the Davao region side. ROLMIN is in partnership with key government agencies led by DENR, and with DAR, NCIP, DOJ, and CHR.
The two-day roll-out for each barangay and IPS leaders was conducted by the Interdev Consulting, Inc.
The eight barangays – Sibulan and Daliaon (Davao City); Sibulan and Sinoron (Sta. Cruz), Managa ang Alegre (Bansalan), Binaton and Kapatagan (Digos), all in Davao del Sur – and IPS leaders from Davao City and Davao del Sur, benefitted in the said training roll-out, especially the areas affected by the ancestral domain (Republic Act No. 8371, “The Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act of 1997” IPRA).
The sessions include 1. Identity and Perception, 2. Basics of Peace and Conflict, 3: Conflict Analysis, 4. Conflict Resolution Skills, 5. Land Conflict Simulation, and 6. Land Conflict Resolution Action Planning. Related sessions on reflection, briefing and debriefing were also aptly employed. Pre-test and post-test administration were also conducted.
The training was structured to not only impart essential theoretical knowledge but also to offer hands-on practice and collaborative learning opportunities. Participants were engaged in interactive sessions (structured learning exercises) that facilitate deep understanding and practical application of conflict analysis, and conflict resolution skills particularly mediation, and preparing them to effectively contribute to peace-building initiatives in the MANP area.
