Training Roll-out for the MANP Barangays

The German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) Promotion of The Rule Law in Mindanao (ROLMIN) Project has concluded the roll-out training for the members of local complaint bodies on just and responsible handling of complaints and resolution local disputes related to Land for the select eight select barangays, and Indigenous Political Structures/Ancestral Domain Management Office (IPS/ADMO), along the Mt. Apo Natural Park in the Davao region side. ROLMIN is in partnership with key government agencies led by DENR, and with DAR, NCIP, DOJ, and CHR.

The two-day roll-out for each barangay and IPS leaders was conducted by the Interdev Consulting, Inc.

The eight barangays – Sibulan and Daliaon (Davao City); Sibulan and Sinoron (Sta. Cruz), Managa ang Alegre (Bansalan), Binaton and Kapatagan (Digos), all in Davao del Sur – and IPS leaders from Davao City and Davao del Sur, benefitted in the said training roll-out, especially the areas affected by the ancestral domain (Republic Act No. 8371, “The Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act of 1997” IPRA).

The sessions include 1. Identity and Perception, 2. Basics of Peace and Conflict, 3: Conflict Analysis, 4. Conflict Resolution Skills, 5. Land Conflict Simulation, and 6. Land Conflict Resolution Action Planning. Related sessions on reflection, briefing and debriefing were also aptly employed. Pre-test and post-test administration were also conducted.

The training was structured to not only impart essential theoretical knowledge but also to offer hands-on practice and collaborative learning opportunities. Participants were engaged in interactive sessions (structured learning exercises) that facilitate deep understanding and practical application of conflict analysis, and conflict resolution skills particularly mediation, and preparing them to effectively contribute to peace-building initiatives in the MANP area.

Strengthening Agri-fishery Enterprise through women and youth economic empowerment, inclusive business, and climate resilience (WEE-SAFE)

Oxfam-Solidarité, together with the Philippine partner, SIAD Initiatives in Mindanao – Convergence for Asset Reform and Regional Development (SIMCARRD), is implementing the WEE-SAFE project.

Along with the on-going Baseline Study, the SIMCARRD WEE-SAFE staff formulated their initial outputs on the Value Chain Analysis on select commodities in the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi:

2. Coffee (dried)
3. Dried fish (tamban and galunggong)
4. Live and Fresh Grouper (Lapu-Lapu)
5. Seaweed (dried and chips)

Onboarding and Administrative Orientation of GIZ Project with Interdev Consulting, Inc. for the assignment: Strengthening Competency of Complaint Bodies under Contract # 83444547 ending on June 2024 for the Promotion of the Rule of Law in Mindanao (ROLMIN).

The assignment will cover 4 target communities in Davao City, Digos City, Sta. Crus and Bansalan Municipalities.

The Project "Strengthening Resilience and Gender Equality in Indigenous Peoples in Bukidnon, Mindanao (Phase II)" is implemented by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Spanish Red Cross (SRC) from August to October 2023.

A Value Chain Analysis (VCA) of the agricultural and non-agricultural products in 14 barangays targeted by the project was assigned to Interdev Consulting, Inc. Field work using Focus group discussion (FGD) participated by 10 barangays and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with barangay, municipal and provincial stakeholders were conducted from August 15-18, 2023.

The results of this Value Chain Analysis will provide evidence-based guidance and information for subsequent activities aimed at strengthening livelihoods through improved agricultural practices and diversifying livelihoods through support for agricultural and non-agricultural initiatives.

Interdev Consulting, Inc. conducts Module 3-Writeshop Session in Beracha Inland Resort, Municipality of Talibon, Bohol Province from July 3-5, 2023. The assignment: DICA Module Development for stakeholders and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) was contracted to Interdev Consulting, Inc. for the period June-September 2023.

This is part of the Local Empowerment and Advocacy (LEAD) of Humanities and Inclusion (HI) project implemented in the Municipality of Talibon, Bohol Province.

The LEAD project aims to empower organizations of persons with disabilities so they could lead climate change actions in their respective communities. This project is implemented with USAID and Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF)/INSPIRE Project technical support to Humanity & Inclusion.

A research study entitled Community-based Countermapping of Water Systems in Plantations Mindanao was facilitated and conducted by Interdev Consulting, Inc. from June 26 to 30, 2023. The workshops were participated by IP communities in Bukidnon, Bantay-Bukid “forest stewards” protecting the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed. and local communities living in areas dominated by industrial banana plantations in Davao City.

The research is hosted by Dr. Alyssa Paredes with Cian Dayrit as Resource Person. The workshops were funded by the University of Michigan.
