This movie hit differently because it mirrored so much of what I’ve lived through.

I used to be the most extroverted person in the room. I gave my trust freely, loved deeply, and showed up for everyone. But the very people I trusted the most, the ones I called my closest friends, were the same ones who betrayed me, gossiped about me, and used my vulnerability against me. The people I considered my strength became my greatest weakness.
That broke something in me. And slowly, without even realizing it, I changed.

Today I had an interview for an 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 role that turned into a full red flag parade.

Let me set the scene:
• She was 𝟏𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 and literally forgot she even had an interview booked.
• I still showed up calm, prepared, and ready to talk about the 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and how I could support the company.
• Then she starts firing 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and super corporate “exam-style” questions that had NOTHING to do with what was in the JD.
• I was honest and said:
“These questions are new to me. I prepared based on the responsibilities in the job description.”
• And her response?
👉 “You’re most likely using AI right now, that’s why you’re not answering properly.”

Her reason?
Because my eyes were “in one direction.” 😂

Where exactly do you want me to look??
You’re on my 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧.
You want me to stare at the tiny camera dot above you for 30 minutes while your face is on the monitor? Be serious.

I wasn’t using AI.
I wasn’t reading a script.
I was just not pretending to be prepared for a role I didn’t even apply for.

Here’s the part people don’t see:

I was always being interviewed 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 founders, business owners, decision-makers.

I’m used to questions like:
• “Can you do this?”
• “Are you comfortable handling these tasks?”
• “How will you support me and my business?”

Not:
• “Let me surprise you with unrelated finance questions and then accuse you of AI when you ask for clarity.”

For the record:
Yes, 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 to prep, organize thoughts and practice (like people use Google, templates, or notes).
No, I am not using AI live in an interview to answer your questions. I actually respect my own credibility.

If you’re going to interview an Executive Assistant, please understand:

🧠 We prepare based on the 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 you posted.
🗂 We’re focused on how we 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮, not play corporate trivia.
⏰ We respect time. If you’re late, unprepared and defensive… we notice.

And this whole “you’re probably using AI right now” line?
That’s not sharp.
That’s just a lazy way to avoid owning your own lack of clarity and preparation.

𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 & 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬:

• Candidates are professionals too.
• We deserve respect, clear expectations and aligned questions.
• And yes, we are interviewing YOU just as much as you are interviewing us.

If your first instinct is to shame candidates instead of communicate, you’re not ready to hire an Executive Assistant.
