Imposter syndrome = secret weapon? 🤔

Week 3 at my new tech job, and I still feel like I'm cosplaying as a professional. Some days I genuinely consider becoming a houseplant—way less pressure, just need water and sunlight.

But here's what's wild: When you can't fake expertise, you get genuinely curious.

I'm out here asking what probably sound like rookie questions. My colleagues give me looks like I just asked if computers run on hamster wheels. But plot twist—these "basic" questions are uncovering blind spots everyone else stopped noticing.

The veterans see systems and routines. I see gaps that need fixing.
Turns out my superpower isn't knowing everything—it's deliberately being the person who knows the least in the room.

Hot take: Being clueless might be the best career strategy ever.

Every expert started as someone who had no clue what they were doing. The only difference? They didn't leave the room when it got uncomfortable.

So here's my question for you: When's the last time you walked into a space knowing you were the least qualified person there?

Maybe that's exactly where you need to be. 🚀

In the middle of a recent interview disaster—technical glitches, dogs barking, and me trying to salvage whatever dignity I had left—I realized something. Sometimes, it’s not about being right or making a perfect impression. Sometimes, it's about maintaining your inner peace and letting go of the need to prove anything.

During the interview, I felt the pressure to explain myself, to justify the mishaps, and to prove that I was capable despite the technical chaos. But in those moments, I felt my stress levels rise, and my words became more frantic and more defensive. I wasn’t at my best. I was in "fight or flight" mode, trying to fix the situation rather than letting it unfold and calmly handling what was left of the conversation.

I had to decide—did I want to prove myself, or did I want to find some peace in the chaos? Would explaining every little mistake make me feel better, or would it just keep feeding the anxiety? I chose peace.

I stopped trying to over-explain. I tried to make myself calm, composed, and positive. I didn’t get any of the answers right. But I didn’t let the situation throw me off track either. I stopped proving that I was the perfect person for the role. To the best of my abilities, I managed all my imperfections.

We often find ourselves in situations where we argue, explain, or prove something—whether it is to others or ourselves. But sometimes, the best thing you can do is let go of being right and focus on maintaining your peace.

It’s okay not to have all the answers or make mistakes. Choose peace over proving a point, and you’ll find that you not only feel better, but you also make better decisions.

So, next time you're in a tough spot—whether in an interview, a conversation, or even just a stressful moment—ask yourself: Am I trying to prove a point, or am I choosing peace? Choose wisely.

This is Wordpress. Wayback 2016, when I started this amazing world of freelancing, I had zero knowledge. Fast forward to 2023, I am now updating Wordpress sites, and I can tell you, I am still just winging it! Learning as I go. Finding out solutions. Using Youtube and Google for reference.

"Believe you can and you're halfway there." - Theodore Roosevelt

As a freelancer, this quote rings true to me. When you believe in yourself and your abilities, you're already well on your way to achieving your goals.

But it's not just about self-confidence. It's also about having faith that you can overcome any obstacle that comes your way. As a person of faith, one of my favorite Bible verses that speaks to this is Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

When I face challenges in my freelancing work, whether it's a difficult project or a tight deadline, I turn to this verse for strength and guidance. It reminds me that I don't have to rely on my own strength alone, but that I can lean on God for help and support.

So if you're a freelancer, remember that you have what it takes to succeed. Believe in yourself, have faith, and keep pushing forward, knowing that with God's help, everything is figure-outable. 💪😎

What challenges have you faced as a freelancer, and how have you used your problem-solving skills to overcome them?

"It's not the how. It's the who" is a wise and inspiring phrase that can often be overlooked but holds immense truth.

Let me ask you this: when was the last time you accomplished a task or achieved a goal that you were proud of? Chances are, the success of that task wasn't solely because of the method you used, but rather the people who were by your side. The right team, mentor, friend, or family member can make all the difference in your journey to success.

Studies have shown that our social connections play a significant role in our overall well-being and success. Having the right support system can provide us with encouragement, motivation, and a sense of belonging, which can ultimately lead to a more fulfilling and successful life.

So next time you set out to achieve a goal or tackle a task, don't just focus on the "how" - think about the "who". Who can help you? Who will support you? Who will encourage you to keep going, even when things get tough?

In conclusion, "It's not the how, it's the who." is a reminder that the people in our lives matter just as much, if not more, than the methods we use to reach our goals.

Who are the people in your life that make the biggest impact, and how have they influenced your journey toward success?

Happy Friday!

We're ending the first work week of 2023 and I hope that yours was smooth-sailing. Mine? It's been a struggle to get things back on track but, I'm happy to just be back doing my usual grind.

Also, I felt the desire to start writing again here's my first shot!

In this post, I talk about what it means to start something—whether a new project or just a conversation with someone. Let me share with you some of the steps I've learned to take when I'm ready to make a change and commit myself to something new. Starting anything is hard, so these tips might be helpful if you're looking for guidance.

Multitasking is not easy, and it's certainly not fun.

If you've ever tried to do two things at once, you know how difficult it can be to actually get anything done. You may feel like you're doing two things at once, but in reality, your brain is just switching back and forth between the two tasks. This takes time and energy, which means you get less done than if you had just focused on one task at a time.

If there's one thing I know about being an entrepreneur myself, it's that you can't manage your personal and professional lives separately.

If you want your business to succeed, you have to be able to do everything in it—and that means managing your calendar and scheduling appointments with clients, setting up meetings with partners and vendors, and keeping track of all the little details that go into running a business well.

If this sounds like something you could use some help with… well then guess what? I'm here for you and I'm ready to take over your mundane, repetitive administrative and marketing tasks so that YOU can focus on what matters most: growing YOUR business!

Let's chat about how I can assist you today!
