I just remembered this day when I went solo in Taichung, Taiwan. This situation reminded me that there are still kind-hearted people in this world, so here’s the story.
That day, I was wandering around Taichung, enjoying its beauty. While walking, I came across a small food store where lots of locals were lining up. As a curious traveler, I lined up too. When I looked at the menu, everything was written in Chinese, but I still pushed through. I planned to just point to the best-seller, or order the same thing as the first person.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t understand me. I felt embarrassed because I was wasting their time, and they even called other people to see if anyone could understand what I was trying to say. But then thank God, an angel was standing behind me. She could speak both English and Chinese. She asked what I wanted and helped me order the best congee I’ve ever tasted.
She helped me connect with people, showed me when words fail, kindness translates. I ended up having the best day ever. ❤️
