#𝐌𝐆𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘:

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) starts a new chapter as DENR Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns and former MGB Director Engr. Michael V. Cabalda symbolically handed over the MGB flag to the new OIC-Director, Engr. Larry M. Heradez during the MGB turnover ceremony held earlier today, March 16, 2026 at Crispin Hall, Petrolab Bldg., MGB Compound in Quezon City.

DENR Undersecretary for Field Operations and Line Bureaus, Joselin Marcus E. Fragada CESO III graced the event, alongside the MGB Division Chiefs.

The ceremony commenced with the reading of the DENR Special Order Nos. 2026-139 and 2026-140, citing the designations of Engr. Heradez as MGB OIC-Director and Dr. Karlo L. Queaño as OIC-Assistant Director.

Asec. Cabalda showed his appreciation and deep gratitude to the bureau. He mentioned that leadership is not only about being in charge, but it is also about taking care of the people entrusted to you.

On the other hand, Engr. Heradez mentioned in his acceptance speech that he had already prepared himself for the duties and responsibilities as the new OIC-Director. He reiterated the importance of Mining operations not only to the economy but also to the community.

The ceremony concluded with Usec. Fragada’s message congratulating MGB with the newly appointed officials.

Meanwhile, Engr. Francis Glenn N. Suante was designated as the new OIC-Regional Director of MGB Regional Office XIII while Dr. Kevin L. Garas was designated as OIC of the Lands Geological Survey Division of MGB Central Office.
