🏛 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝟯𝗙 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹)

The UPD College of Engineering is holding a seminar on electronic waste management to support our university’s sustainability efforts. The event will take place on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Engineering Theater (3F Melrchor Hall) in UP Diliman. All Administrative Officers, Building Administrators, and Custodians/Utility Personnel from different college buildings are invited to join.

The seminar will have three parts, each covering a different view on e-waste disposal. Speakers from the college department (OADA), studentry (TEP), and the industry (Edispo) will discuss their work in managing e-waste and helping build a greener future. After the discussions, each department will receive an e-waste bin as part of Ms. Sharon’s project, supporting responsible disposal across campus.

We look forward to sharing practical tips on safe e-waste disposal, recycling, and management.

Last July 18, 2024, The E-Waste Project met with Mrs. Sharon Maria Esposo-Betan, Head Librarian of the UP College of Engineering Library, and Mr. Jaime de Castro, Founder and General Manager of Edispo to receive a new e-waste bin. This bin is the first of many bins to be given by Edispo in support of our initiative, as part of the collaborative effort to tackle the e-waste problem. The e-waste bin is currently deployed at UP Engineering Library 2's new The Learning Commons building.

The Learning Commons serves as a space for student use, including discussion rooms, conference rooms, and computer centers for Engineering students to utilize. The space is also PWD-friendly, with exclusive restrooms and elevators for their convenience.

This collaboration aims to make e-waste management more visible and accessible throughout the university, especially once more e-waste bins come in. The E-Waste Project encourages everyone to take part in proper disposal and recycling of electronic wastes, to contribute to a greener future.
