Today, we honor both the heroes of our history and the everyday Filipinos who continue to serve, lead, and create positive change in our communities.

May they remind us that meaningful change is built through service, evidence, and collective action.

Gathering local evidence to inform more equitable health systems. In April 2026, metaHealth conducted field data collection across Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Norte, including Dipolog City and President Manuel A. Roxas Municipality.

The team carried out key informant interviews, costing interviews, and an inequality aversion survey with health offices, hospitals, and health centers to generate evidence that can support the study.

The data collection was made possible through the support of the Department of Health Zamboanga Peninsula Center for Health Development (DOH-ZPCHD), Zamboanga City Health Office, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Health Office, Dipolog City Health Office, and Roxas Municipal Health Office, together with participating health facilities.

The study is being conducted by metaHealth and is supported through the inaugural grant of the St. Lukeโ€™s Medical Center Health Equity and Research Foundation (HERE Foundation).

Zypher Jude G. Regencia, Senior Consultant at MetaHealth, together with fellow researchers, has published a study in Discover Public Health examining HIV perceptions and the educational value of Battle in the Bloodโ€”a mobile health game developed to promote HIV awareness. The study forms part of his UNSW Sydney Kirby Institute CHART Program Fellowship for HIV.
The research explores how gamified learning can shape awareness, attitudes, and reflection on HIV among key populations in the Philippines, highlighting the role of interactive digital tools in public health education.

Key insights from the study:
โ€ข Mobile games can strengthen HIV education and awareness
โ€ข Gamification helps foster empathy toward people living with HIV (PLHIV)
โ€ข Interactive formats improve engagement and inclusivity in health messaging
โ€ข Digital interventions can help reduce stigma and expand outreach
This work underscores the growing potential of user-centered, technology-driven approaches in advancing HIV education and supporting more inclusive public health strategies.
