MASSAGE is basically using touch, pressure, and movement on your body’s muscles and soft tissues to help you feel better.
The core idea
A massage therapist uses hands, fingers, elbows or sometimes tools to:
- Relax muscles that are tight or sore
- Boost circulation so more oxygen and nutrients get around
- Calm the nervous system which helps with stress
Common types you’ll hear about
- Swedish massage light to medium pressure, long flowing strokes. Great for relaxation
- Deep tissue slower, firmer pressure to reach deeper muscle layers. Good for chronic tension
- Sports massage focuses on muscles used in specific activities. Helps with recovery and flexibility
- Shiatsu / Thai massage uses stretching and pressure along energy lines, often done on a mat
- Hot stone / aromatherapy adds heat or essential oils for extra relaxation
Why people get them
- Stress relief and better sleep
- Less muscle pain, stiffness and headaches
- Improved flexibility and blood flow
- Just to unwind and reset
It’s not medical treatment by itself, but a lot of people use it alongside other health care for pain, tension or wellness.
