DTIP FOR NTC
What is DTIP?
Data Transmission Industry Participants (DTIPs) are entities, including public telecommunications entities (PTEs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), value-added service (VAS) providers, and Satellite Systems Providers or Operators (SSPOs) that offer data transmission services as an economic activity. Defined under the Konektadong Pinoy Act (RA 12234) in the Philippines, these participants build, operate, and maintain network infrastructure to transmit data
Key Usage Examples and Participants
DTIPs facilitate the movement of digital information through various segments:
• Internet Service Providers (ISPs): Offering broadband, fiber, and wireless internet connectivity to households and businesses.
• Satellite Systems Providers/Operators (SSPOs): Using satellite technology for data transmission, especially in remote areas.
• Value-Added Services (VAS) Providers: Providing enhanced communication services, including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
• Infrastructure Providers: Entities involved in international gateways, core networks, or "middle/last mile" connectivity (e.g., fiber providers, tower companies)
Need a PECE for your DTIP Application?
Under the Konektadong Pinoy Act, these entities are required to register with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) rather than needing a congressional franchise, reducing barriers for new players. They are subject to regulations ensuring open, non-discriminatory access to infrastructure
