The organization was organized in 2009 through the Department of Agriculture and the Local Government Unit of Lebak’s Municipal Agriculture Office wherein the organization w
as named Keytodac Coffee Growers Association. They were formed due to the call of the National Coffee Industry to organize groups of coffee farmers in the municipality due to the abundance of the crop in the municipality. The first livelihood activity that the organization engaged in was collective marketing of green coffee beans that they were able to sell 10 metric tons of coffee delivered to Nestle Philippines located in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat. They were able to partner with various non-government organizations and national government agencies to seek financial assistance and technical support. The enterprise’s products are Robusta Green Coffee Beans (GCB) of commercial grade and ground coffee. Robusta is one of the major coffee varieties used for commercial coffee production along with Arabica. It is described as having a strong and bold flavor which is more bitter, earthy and woody compared to Arabica. It can also have various notes such as chocolatey and nutty which gives it a unique taste profile. For ground coffee, they are encased in pouches bearing the brand name “Kape-on”. It can come in 2 variants particularly in 250 grams pack and 1 kilogram pack. The label also shows the name and logo of the manufacturer, weight of pack, type of coffee, date of manufacture and expiration date.
